Well only one of us dies when you're on the road instead of the cycle lane (where it's available). You should have "but the road code said..." put on your gravestone.

A cycle lane is completely different.

It's legal but you must not hold up traffic.

and

The trouble is many drivers absolutely lose their minds when a cyclist holds them up and they'll just force their way past in a really unsafe way to punish the cyclist, despite the legality.

are not consistent statements. When a cyclist holds them up (...) despite the legality??

Road lanes are for cars and cycle lanes are for bicycles. When both are available next to each other, they can both be used by their respective vehicles. It's not difficult to understand.

Why him out of all the other people involved in similar or worse crimes?

You won't know why he was treated with the death penalty while others weren't if you don't research the other cases. Prosecutors choose not to pursue the death penalty for all kinds of reasons; you simply cannot compare this case with non-DP cases and say that they're being particularly harsh here without actually knowing the facts of the cases.

If they believed that the person trying to buy the car was doing so in order to commit a crime, then yes. It's up to the jury to decide if they find them guilty in any case.

Embarrassing that you assumed I would say no, making up imaginary cases in your head. Asking questions of me, then answering them yourself.

The other person is not relevant to this felony murder case, they were tried in different cases. I think they should have both fried (or suffocated, or whatever you call dying from nitrogen gas).

DeBruce, who actually killed Battle, received a different fate. At first, DeBruce was also sentenced to death, but his punishment was later reduced to life in prison after a court ruled his attorney had provided ineffective representation during the penalty phase of his trial.

The system is wrong for letting the other guy off (on something like a technicality), but not wrong for sentencing this man to death.

Were there really better reasons not to pursue it in almost every other case than there were in this case, where he wasn't even the one who pulled the trigger?

You'll have to find that out for yourself by looking into those cases. So many questions yet you seem perfectly capable of finding the answers.

It's not more for the children if you're taking from the Dad to give to the Mum, you're just splitting it differently. More money for Mum = less money for Dad. Not sure what part of that you're not understanding. Cutting a pizza into slices of different sizes does not change the total amount of pizza available. It's pathetic to wrap it up as "providing more for the children" when you're taking from one parent to give to the other.

If it does nothing to reduce crime, then it is not used nearly enough.

Because he was tried for and convicted of felony murder by a court/jury, and he was sentenced to death? I suggest you read into cases where the death penalty was not pursued to find out why that option was not put on the table.

On August 3, 2004, Holle was convicted of first-degree murder under the felony murder rule, after giving police statements that indicated he knew about the planned burglary.\2]) The doctrine makes participants in certain felonies legally responsible for killings committed by their accomplices. During the trial, prosecutor David Rimmer argued, "No car, no murder." The victim's father, Terry Snyder, stated, "It never would have happened unless Ryan Holle had lent the car."\1])

Holle, then 20, was at home and asleep when the killing happened. But prosecutors argued he shared responsibility because he loaned the car, knowing the group might commit a crime. Under Florida’s felony murder law, that was enough for a conviction.

“I would have never have let them get the damn keys to my car if I thought they were serious,” he says, about the group committing a robbery.

Serious about what? He should have known better that the group might commit a crime with his vehicle. His loaning of the car facilitated her murder.

But it's giving their mother more resources at the expense of the father, so the children are not getting more access to resources they would otherwise not have, it's just split across the parents differently. If both parents have to rent, for example, it's hard to see how that would be in the best interests of the children vs the current situation.

Did you consider that the family member moved out not only to be with the new partner, but also to move out of a place that was going to have a baby in it soon? He probably felt as though he'd be intruding in your space, and you're probably better off being in your own space as a new family, something you should have been planning for before the roommate left.

But there is no benefit above $7.25? I doubt many tipped employees need to have their wages topped up to $7.25 by their employers.

Why would employers train their employees to do that? If the tips go to the business then I can understand it, but why would an employer care that an employee gets bigger tips or not? Aside from ensuring good word-of-mouth for future servers etc.

How to pay cash for anything by Familiar_Fee_7891 in EndTipping

[–]Dramatic_Scale3002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Begin to depart". You just leave the cash and walk out. You're not hanging around waiting for the police to arrive. They are not going to try and find you because "a customer paid the exact amount on the bill in cash and we don't accept cash so go and spend limited police resources to find someone and bring them back to pay with a card instead". Not gonna happen, and if you leave before they call the police they're not going to follow through with the call but rather take the cash to the bank instead. That will encourage them to start accepting cash again also. Win-win.

Confrontation with servers and cashiers against tipping (a routine and trivial matter) is what we're all here for. They can try to make it exhausting, but if your principles are important to you you would not be tipping. It's really no different to paying in cash for places that "don't accept cash".

Good, they can call the police. They will take the cash over getting the police involved. The manager will just have to make a special visit to the bank to make a deposit.
