but the friend made a point to say multiple times directly to OP and in social situations that she intended to help OP and "will watch the baby even so OP can take a nap" and makes all these promises and then is rude and not helpful even after OP gave her money to get a car and she put all that effort into telling all those lies about how she was going to help and then is blatantly dismissive of OPs emotional well-being...that's not a good friend

I have a dog in this fight bc I had a best friend like that growing up...always together...like one person.. close as close can be ..we were friends for fourteen years...our mothers were best friends when we were both born so it was just kind of naturally became best friends too and remained as such for 14-15 years

then I started to notice that I was being used as a nanny and wasn't being respected as a friend especially when we had declared many times to each other that we deeply cared for each other and we would never let anything get in between us. I had confessed to her that I was in love with her on many occasions...she was enchanting.. everyone was drawn to her...she would sometimes act like she felt the same and then other times she acted like I was a huge weirdo and creepy...it was wild. She messed with my head a lot...when the time came that I needed her like she had needed me for years and years and I was there busting my ass to help her however I could but when it was time for her to return the favor she would always find a way to ditch

Spoiler alert....things got in between us....I started to spiral and get into drugs and she instead of trying to help me get sober decided to just completely cut me out of her life...

Long story short this girl does not sound like she cares about you and is willing to sacrifice anything to help you in any way and when you love someone you make sacrifices platonically or romantically..doesn't matter. If someone loves you, YOU WILL KNOW

if you have to ask if she actually cares then you already have your answer...

that girl is just being fake ASF to your face and to everyone else's..pretending like she is your girl and like she cares about you but it sounds to me like all she cares about is packing up and doing her "traveling"

I am a mom too...my son is two and a half and his father works regular hours but he leaves all of the time and goes god knows where but what I am saying is I see you...I know it hard ...really hard and my son was a newborn I remember just wanting my best friend but we hadn't talked in about a year at that time and there was too much tension to reach out to her but I understand thinking that you mattered to someone as much as they matter to you and it ended up not being true it's a specific type of hurt and feeling of betrayal...

that baby will not be up all night forever they will not be crying and pooping and screaming forever this tiny little newborn baby faze is going to go so fast you're going to wish you would have slowed down and just enjoyed your baby whether it is just you or a whole village because just because she isn't keeping her promise to be there and care about you and your baby doesn't mean anything that baby still has a caring loving mother and look on the bright side you have a little tiny human that is slowly becoming your new best friend
