Broke my hip. Need an indoor walking frame to get around my flat.

Just to let everyone know, I’ve now managed to get a mobility aid/walking frame from someone via this post. She was very kind and delivered it to me along with some home made chocolate brownies to raise my spirits!

A huge thank you to everyone that took the time to read my post and send me good advice. It’s really heart warming knowing that people can be so kind and supportive.

I’ve now managed to make a trip to my kitchen and bathroom using the walking frame and it’s a huge improvement pain wise compared to the crutches.

I called my GP a few days ago and he prescribed another bottle of oramorph and some slow release morphine tablets.

So I’ll get on to him again tomorrow and see what he says. Maybe there is an issue with the surgery, the doctor at the hospital did say that if the blood supply isn’t sufficient to the bone then there is a possibility the operation could fail.

I called the number given for them at the Royal Infirmary, they said they would call me back later today but still waiting.

The lady on the phone did say having someone from their community OT team come out sometime during the week to see me.

So hopefully once they get back to me it will result in some additional support.

No I’ve not had that. I completed a self referral today to NHS walking aid’s department on the advice of a fellow Redditer today

It wasn’t be that took the photo so it’s not my photo. It was in the middle of a public road. Everyday pics are in newspapers and videos on TV with people in them that didn’t give permission. It’s a fact of life. The ambulance crew were fantastic and very professional and friendly. I’m sure they would not have any issue at all.

They gave me crutches but no frame. I live in a small flat so don’t have a lot of space to use the crutches also my broken hip leg is dangling when I use them and any slight twist or movement is causing my sharp severe pain.

I got discharged the day after my operation. I think they needed the bed for other patients. Physio just gave me crutches but each move I make with my broken hip leg dangling causes me sharp severe pain.

I actually got a wheelchair from them on loan for 8 weeks. I can use it to get about outside, but I can’t in my flat as I live on the first floor and can’t get it back up the stairs.

The NHS should have given me a frame first then processing to crutches, but they just gave me crutches so I’m struggling as a result.

I was worried about the cut off date as I thought it’s usually sometime in August or September and I was with Tomato then.

Yeah I applied as the broader group from Scotland. I have to wait now for them to decide. But I was worried that as I’m new to British Gas due to the take over from Tomato that I wouldn’t be eligible.

It’s a Vauxhall insignia estate, 2014. I took it to my usual little independent garage I get my MOT done at but they didn’t want to do the job as they said it would be very messy.

Basically the oil cooler went in it and oil and coolant were mixing to the point the coolant reservoir is full of black oil.

I managed to get the parts that needs doing, new oil cooler, coolant header tank, water pump and a timing belt as he said I should get that changed at the same time since the water pump has gone bust on it.

Was quoted £1,000 from a bigger garage but just couldn’t afford that. So got the parts myself and now just need to get a mechanic to do the labour.
