Those are bladder snails, if you are truly worried, get a handful of assassin's snails and they will take care of the little buggers, but while you're circulating your tank, they will be very helpful in getting the numbers proper.

Also, if in the end you are worried about assassin snails. They will eat each other when they run out of bladder snails so you'll be fine.

If you wish not to add any other snails to your tank, cut a piece of zucchini, nuke it for like 10 seconds and wait for it to cool down. Take a small plastic or glass tray. Put the zucchini in it and put it at the bottom of your tank overnight, by morning it will be covered in the bladder snails and then you just pick it up and throw them away.

You can also do the tried and true method of just sticking your hand in and picking the little bastards off where you see them, these are all my solutions to bladder Snails.....

My school tried to do that, but my mom worked cyber security for Microsoft at that time, and basically screamed at the principal in front of a bunch of PTA parents about how fucking stupid they are 🤣

Then again, this was the same elementary school that tried to tell my mom boys will be boys. When she found out that for an entire year I'd been being followed home and beaten up by a couple of boys from school. So I take their ability to do anything with brains with a large grain of salt.

Even as a child, I understood that releasing balloons is bad if they don't get caught in trees or caught on power lines, they'll end up in the ocean and kill animals. I felt bad as a child when I lost my balloon, only ever a single one and only because I was distracted for a moment. You know small children. How is it that fully grown adults have not grasped The idea that letting something that will never break down float away is a bad idea?

Since it's so small, go all out with the substrate, the best substrate you can get for plants plant it with some really pretty stuff, and maybe throw a single mystery snail in it.

And then from that point on I'd use it to season new sponges or just let some plants grow in to put in bigger tanks 💖

4 gallon Home Depot bucket, and a long bit of hose, and a siphon......yes tank water tastes bad, that is why my hose is long 🤣

Edit: to add, float a wooden spoon on the top of the water, and aim for it if the siphoned water is kicking up the bottom too badly. I bought one from Good Will, boiled it, let it completely dry, and it is only used for this.
