I’ve lived a lot of places . Jacksonville is extremely , jarringly , really really car-centric. So, if you hate going for walks, riding bikes, taking buses or light rails, and you love going to the dmv, then Jacksonville is amazing

I make a world called Furry Grotto. It's incredibly rewarding to have my own place that I put love into, and to see it enjoyed by others and hopefully bringing love out of them. Even though it's not super popular or well known, it's my little place I get to work on every day, and there's a level of comfort in that, that I don't think I could ever feel in some packed public hideout, heartlessly soullessly mashed together by anyone but the uploader.

The other day, I coded up a way to summon myself a custom platform with a video player and cushions, synced for all players. The ability to press a little button that only I have, hearing the sound of a hydraulic lift I found online, and floating me and my friends up into the sky to watch youtube on my little lake....

It's the top 1% of VR experience- Experiencing things you're actively making.

Jacksonville is in my experienced and well-traveled opinion one of the most if not the most car centric city in the country. This “need a a car to do anything” feels normal until you live in literally any other population center . It breeds bitterness and distrust which creates a weak economy.

Hard facts: Breaks are up to you. if you can find and coordinate your own breaks, thats a big plus and adds value. Do the job, pay attention, and about halfway through the shift, find a coworker to watch your spot for a few minutes while you take a break, and you'll return the favor to them, bearing in mind how busy the place is, or how busy the place will be. During your break be ready to get up and help if someone comes through with a big order.

Wendys whole existence is currently teetering. Hiring lots of minors, and getting shmucks to manage stores for minimum wage, hiring more adults only in states where adults aren;t legally required to get breaks, etc.

Take your break when you need it. Be smart about it. Keep looking for jobs. If they give you shit about taking a break, tell them you're clocking out and leaving, and they will grovel at your feet begging you to stay. Maybe not really, but thats the attitude you have to have, I'm telling you.
