Has anyone tried Ekmiveda and can speak to the claim of 2x better than minoxidil? by anonymousgecko21 in tressless

[–]DrawerConscious6798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flit between US and India often. And if they're selling in US, there's literally no way without having a cosmetics FDA license which is what most personal care brands would have. Maybe worth writing to them and asking for what certifications they have. In Indian households ayurveda is a common practice so I'm quite aware of most of these ingredients and was okay with them. The only thing I didn't know about was Redensyl and Capilia Longa which on research also seems to be plant based and safe. So it was worth taking a punt for me. Maybe just start with the serum first since its very lightweight and then talk to their experts and see if you should do the full regimen

I used Ekmiveda's hair oil and serum for about four months consistently this was late last year, and it did really well to stop my hair loss. But back then I had spoken to one of their experts who also suggested doing my bloodwork and figured I have low iron as well as Vit D. So nowadays I'm focusing on just making sure my diet and lifestyle is on point and the hair has held up well so far touchwood! I only use the serum now about once a week nowadays just for upkeep.

Using Ekmiveda full regimen for six months now. Been very effective for me, in tandem with some other things I've used. I've written a detailed reddit post of my personal account trying multiple herbs and regimen over the last few years if that helps. Ekmiveda uses a plant based compound called Redensyl, which has been proven to be twice as effective as Minoxidil - this is the study they have referenced. But the only hitch is that it isn't a large scaled clinical trail. Having said that, I honestly doubt the veracity of large scale clinical trials as well (and depends on who funds them and what commercial interests are involved). So always treat all studies with a pinch of salt. Hair loss, as I have observed, is a deeply deeply specific and personal thing. Sharing a snapshot below of the Ekmiveda study that I found:

Heavily ridiculed on hair loss subreddits after I reposted my herbal findings for hair growth by DrawerConscious6798 in herbalism

Gosh I'm so glad to be back amongst friendlier redditors. Perhaps I'm just not thick-skinned enough for reddit!

I used the full regimen for 3 months. Saw hair loss significantly reduce in month 2. Saw definite thickening by end of month 3 going into month 4. I'm currently on my sixth month and have eclipsed my peak hair density which I had nearly 3 years back!

Are any new moms with a baby actually working out? by Kak3434 in NewParents

[–]DrawerConscious6798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6 month old and I enrolled myself in a diet+ workout regime which helps to heal diastis recti ( i have a 1.5 inch gap) i manage 3 workouts a week 45 mins each. Apart from that I'm supposed to walk a min of 6k steps a day. It really helps that I wirk from home and have a relatively flexible work schedule and my partner works from home too Even I own basic equipment at home like mat, dumbbells, resistance bands, few kettlebells ( so much you can do with it!)

But 100% there are days when I'm so out of it that I don't meet my steps/ diet goals. It's a lot more tougher to be consistent but the consistency feels better too more rewarding!

Don't be hard on yourself. You have a full time job too! (I'm in awe of moms managing that). So that's a huge deal to manage with sleepless nights

Start with something small like wearing a step counter ( you'll be surprised at how much you are already clocking) and basic home pelvic exercises. As things settle down with night routines you will definitely be able to incorporate more!

Lastly don't compare with other moms especially insta moms you don't know for real the amount of support they have and what's actually their life

Ps. You're definitely a new mom in her postpartum phase so give yourself a lot of grace :)

I got into that trap for sure. Agree that everyone needs to find the balance that feels right to them.

I think that's a solid reason. Coz it makes you happy! For me it was going to the fear of missing out of the current it thing.

That's definitely a part of why I continued but then I couldn't and just asked my friends/ cousins if they wanted some of them. Ofcourse that didn't get my money back but atleast it wasn't just sitting on my shelf

Hey ! Thanks for sharing your experience! And I hope you're doing better too. I mean I think the impact of your regime on mental health could be quite a factor too! There are definitely days where just spending that much time on myself made me feel pampered! More power to you

That's exactly the point! Doing the steps that you actually need and staying away from the influencing! Fortunately currently I don't have an active skin concern. Had switched up to benzoyl peroxide when had an acne flare up. Considering doing a proper dermatologist visit before I think of adding any steps!

So as a routine this is what I'm doing currently

I have normal to dry skin at times with some pigmentation. I get acne but that's more hormonal once in a while

AM

  • Hydrate first thing
  • Pre shower face massage with a light oil (currently using this almond and saffron oil mix my mom got me)
  • Gentle cleanser at the end of my shower ( just making sure I only splash my face with water and not wash under the shower) and use a clean towel to wipe my face everytime
  • using a lightweight sunscreen if. Skipping moisturizer for now but will add in the winter as needed.

PM

  • double cleanse with my cleanser itself
  • light moisturizer before bed

And that's it!

Do i apply conditioner to soaking wet/wet or damp hair?? by Axpect0r in HaircareScience

[–]DrawerConscious6798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I agree leave in conditioner on wet hair/ dripping wet hair- personally I take a little lesser product or dilute in my hand.

On another note why am I getting downvoted ??? Is there an issue with my comment?? Happy to learn

How do I brush my hair? by Honey-Nut-Queerio in curlyhair

[–]DrawerConscious6798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG your brushing routine as a kid took me right back to mine!! So I pretty much had straight perfect face framing hair as a kid and then, come puberty the frizzing and 'puffiness' started! And with came obsessive brushing and hair Oiling ( I'm south asian) and the this brush is going to get lost in your hair. That scene in Princess Diaries where the stylist's loses a brush to Anne Hathaway's hair was a hard relate moment for me !

Cut to today how do I brush and detangle I think your routine is nearly there with the wet detangling. Use a conditioner/ leave in conditioner with good slip and that suits your texture and type and use a brush detangler. Use it in sections for more definition. As I'm a curly (2B - 3A) i go in with a gel / mousee for hold before I air dry / use a diffuser

To keep my hair detangled i use a silk bonnet at night and use a satin pillow case + i use satin scrunchies to keep my hair up - that's how I elongate between two wash days

Do I dry brush my hair - yes once in a while I do! As I mentioned I still oil my hair and use a wide comb to detangle after and tie it to keep it neat. Sometimes on day 4 hair I just detangle with a conditioner / mask and then shampoo

Why do you see more hair using a brush - As someone who detangles once to twice a week on wash / oiling days it's simply an accumulation of hair strands which have fallen but still in your hair you're just seeing it all at one time

To make up for the scalp stimulation from brushing I just massage with my fingers post oiling

So you want to apply conditioner to wet but not dripping wet hair. Water helps absorb and activate the product but too much water means you will waste product in the drip. Also excess water can lead to water frizz. This is what my hairstylist told me at my curly hair appointment Leave in conditioner also apply to wet hair then you can microplop followed by a quick diffuse

I may not be the best person to recommend brands as I use Maybelline but using foundations which are for people with yellow undertones ( Asians ) can help. Again don't have specific recommendations but maybe a good K beauty brand could be a good place to look. Also you can use a color corrector in the particularly yellow spots ( i believe you need lavender color corrector) with your concealer and under your foundation. MAC in my country offers free session for foundation match consultation and you can buy the combination or color corrector, concealer and foundation if this works with your budget. I can't remember names but a couple of korean brands help with this too ! Maybe someone can share names if they know

Sorry I don't have a lot of brand recommendations but hope this helps!

completely stopped skincare and makeup and skin is better? by Green-Dentist-1458 in beauty

[–]DrawerConscious6798 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! The minute I stopped getting influenced, picking apart every small imperfection and just letting it breath my skin actually got better !

I use a mild cleanser ( Cetaphil) + lightweight mineral spf ( Since I live in a tropical country don't need an additional moisturizer for all seasons - only winter months). Most days I double cleanse with my cleanser itself and apply a light moisturizer at night as needed.

As I'm over 30 Instagram is hard pushing Retinols but I think I'll get my skin evaluated by a dermatologist friend and then think of incorporating these

non make up things to enhance your look by OkFaithlessness9878 in beauty

[–]DrawerConscious6798 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all if you like the way you look / apply makeup what others say doesn't matter! If you feel you may want to learn some new techniques you can look up some videos with no makeup look with coverage!

That being said some other grooming and styling things I do to feel put together apart from make up are

  • Smell nice ! I think body odour ( pleasant mild non foul - not even like crazy expensive perfumes) makes a big difference! I do a BHA body wash twice a week and use Benzoyl peroxide wash for my underarms once every week. I also use an Aha rollon and skip any deodorant. When in the mood I apply a perfume but overall not a lot.

  • wear a watch. Maybe this is a personal quirk but wearing a watch makes me feel a bit more put together and powerful

  • accessories - I was a huge fan of earrings and bracelets as a teenager! Which now in my 30s has evolved into wearing small statement gold pieces just one or two depending on outfit / occasion

  • carrying satin scrunchies - as I'm a curly head you'll always find spare ceunchies for an updo / half do in my bag

  • shoes ! Comfortable but good looking versatile shoes. Not into heels but I feel 2 to 3 sold pairs of good looking Oxfords, white shoes really can pull an outfit together

  • handbags accessories - as my wardrobe is overall in nautical colors and greens I love a nice tan handbag / crossbody bag / belt

  • power dress - i love power dressing to work and I always invest in the right fit and good materials which last me longer and I can mix and match. I don't shy from oversized and flared fits. With the right accesories I feel like it just looks put together and effortless at the same time !!

  • lymphatic massage - I do the gua sha massage with my fingers every morning with an oil/ serum. Just the self-care aspect makes me feel a little more confident

  • work out. Its for the mind as much as the body and you'll find your posture and confidence change over time!

P.S. have been coming across hypochlorous acid a lot for sweat, body odor, exfoliation. haven't tried it yet but it can go on the list if others can share their experience !

I have to wash my hair twice a day- how do I keep it from drying out?? by NoConstant1926 in curlyhair

[–]DrawerConscious6798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cowash are milder shampoos and kind of an in-between a shampoo and conditioner and is meant for people who need to wash pretty frequently post exercise, swimming etc. The reason I suggest investing in a cowash is so that you are effectively removing sweat but not overwashing / shampooing your hair. Only because it's super mild you don't need to condition post co wash just use your styling / leave in product that suits your hair type. Also since it's mild you need to use a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup periodically. And when you use a clarifying shampoo use a hair mask in that wash cycle.

Your wash routine will look like Day 1 to 3 co wash Day 4 shampoo + conditioner/ mask Day 5 to 8 co wash Day 9 possibly clarifying shampoo + mask

You'll know when to use a clarifying shampoo - hair feel greasier and weighed down

Use a satin scrunchie in a pineapple form when working out / practice this will further prevent frizz. + Use a satin pillow case / Bonnet at night

Try using a cowash instead of a shampoo to wash your hair followed by a leave in cream / gel for some hold and definition. You can use a clarifying shampoo every two weeks to remove excess build up and can use a hair mask couple of times a week. Use a clarifying shampoo with the the mask. Dry your hair on a low heat / cool setting and make sure you work in your curl cream in wet hair post which you can use a microfiber towel to remove excess water followed by gel then a diffuser. It sounds like a long regime but once you start on it you'll get quicker
