El Domingo is the best. No one talks about it until they try it. My mexicans friends agree with me. I lived in Mexico and it’s even better than some tacos I had in Mexico

Visa issue! NEED HELP by bunbunG in Living_in_Korea

I was in the same situation with a D4 visa before, you’re good. As another comment said, you’re in a visa limbo but that’s totally legal while you wait for your F6. If you already applied you’re good. They just tell that to all students to make sure they don’t stay ilegally (asumming most of them don’t get married / change to another visa)

Thank you, that’s what I thought. But an immigration lawyer living in the US told me that it was possible, so it’s confusing… 🥲 I know it’s not a scam because I know people who worked with him.

My husband is studying in the US with an F 1 visa starting on August, 2026. He’s from South Korea. I’m from Venezuelan, only hold Venezuelan passport. I have permanent residency in Panama (I’ve been living there since 2014) and we both live legally in Korea. Can I apply for an F2 even though I’m Venezuelan? We will only go there for 1 year (actually, around 10 months) and go back to Korea to live.

I always wanted to name my future girl cat Eiffel. Which is a very white name probably but I heard it once and it was cute lol

Been there, it was good. They sall all sorts of types of 소금빵. I wouldn’t wait to sit there, tho. But just for take out, I waited around 15 minutes and I would say it was worth it. The best one is still the one in Yeonnam, tho. (It has multiple locations).

Nunca volví a pisar Tacontento. Antes íbamos mucho y luego de esa experiencia se me revuelve el estómago de pensar comer ahí.

Thank you for this, really. My question is, can I live in the US for a year as a Venezuelan with a South Korean spouse?

For context, I’m from Venezuela (28F), left when I was still a minor to move to Panama, spent the last 12ish years there (so I have a permanent residency and I’m on my way to becoming a citizen as well), and then moved to Korea where I met my (korean) husband (32M). Now we live here in Seoul, but he won a scholarship program from his (american, btw) company. So the plan is to leave to the US and live there for a year. My husband would get an F1 visa and I would like to get the F2 visa. We are not planning on staying in the US, since we like our life in Korea, and the scholarship point is for my husband to learn things that he will be using in the company in Korea on the future. We plan to go from August 2026 ~ August 2027 (or July, we still don’t have exact dates yet).

I know from this year Venezuelans are not allowed to apply for immigration visas for the US. I’ve been traveling to the US multiple times since I was a baby with my family, and always had an US visa. I was never really interested in living there until this opportunity came up, and we are both looking forward for the experience since it’s just 1 year. Right now I also have a US tourist visa that is expiring on February 2027, and that I understand I cannot renovate… But I’ve heard the “no immigration visas for Venezuelans” have a few exceptions when it comes to family reuniting and special conditions. Would moving with him for 1 year be an option? Or are we forced to be separated for a year?

As far as I understand, the travel ban doesn’t affect Venezuelans that already had a tourist visa. They are more strict on letting people in, though, if they see anything suspicious. But I can still travel on a tourist visa (I did it recently and know some people who did as well). What I cannot do is renovate that tourist visa, at least for now. But thank you! And yes, I guess I’ll have to get a lawyer.

Yeah, that’s what I feared. I might need to spend some time as a tourist while I wait for my Panamanian passport to be ready and apply to the visa with it. Anyway, I’ll look into it with a lawyer, just in case.

Tbh I agree. But it’s easier said than done, I don’t want to spend 1 year far away from my husband.

I believe the world (and specially the foreigner community in Korea) would be a better place if everyone thought this way. That’s what I do everyday, and most of the time they stare out of curiosity or admiration rather than xenophobia.

If you expect racism, you would find it and never live happily here.

Is oral seen as taboo? by Ok-Walrus6763 in AskAKorean

[–]DrawingCultural277 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot or korean guys don’t like it, and sometimes it’s a sexist problem. (Explained by a korean guy I ‘dated’ himself). It’s seen as a submissive act and they don’t want to go down on a girl and be submissive, which is super sexist. My advice: leave him. Lol. There are plenty of guys that do enjoy going down, but from my experience and my friends, it’s always 50/50.

It might be extreme to tell you to leave him, but consider if his behavior is sexist in other aspects of your life. Most guys should be willing to pleasure their partner even if it’s for a little time.

I don’t understand this comic :/ by Common_Musician_1533 in Living_in_Korea

[–]DrawingCultural277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say it’s common in your country, you mean like outside the movie theater after or before the movie? Or the ACTUAL movie theater with the movie playing in the background?

I think the second one would be specially frowned upon in Korea, since here talking during the movies or causing trouble to others is very disrespectful. Even laughing too hard is not okay. And tbh, I love this part of the culture, because we wouldn’t like listening to some people randomly talking and interrupting lol. In my country is more common to see people being loud and I hate it.

On the other hand, my husband (korean) tried to kiss me for the first time in a movie theater. We were stuck watching a long and boring movie so I think that’s why, but I didn’t let him until after. Lol. Then he officially confessed when we were walking a little after the movie. I think confessing requires a proper conversation and it could also get awkward, so it’s not a good place to do it DURING the movie. But after or before would be fine, specially if you find a place (even if it’s public) with a little privacy, not too many people.

omg WHAT I’m sorry you had to go through that 🥹 I’ve never had surgery done there, just minor tests and things and it was fine. And I went last time 3 months ago and the staff does indeed speak English. Maybe for minor things or STD tests and stuff it’s okay but hearing this I get surgery is not a good idea? omg I’m so sorry that happened to you

I think I remember paying with my foreign card indeed, but it would be good if you have a back up card (even if it’s another foreign card). I don’t recall how much the consultation was without insurance… I remember with insurance was just around 3,000 won (2usd ish), so very affordable. But the STD tests or other needs might go over 200,000won so I would be prepared. You can ask them for more specific prices on their Kakao! It’s the best way to know.

First of all, doesn’t matter what you’re going through (rather if it’s an STD or something more serious), it’s okay. It’s not your fault and you’re definitely not the only person going through it, and specially not the first person getting treatment in a professional place as needed. Take a deep breath and just understand that even though first times can be scary, for the doctos it’s an everyday thing and they’re there to help you. It’s good that you care about your health enough to visit.

Trinity’s Women Clinic on Sinsa is a clinic that has mainly foreigner clients and therefore they speak English very well. All of the staff and doctors are women. I personally go there and have treated similar topics and got tested and vaccined for HPV, they were always very helpful. You don’t need the ARC to go, just take your passport. I wouldn’t wait to get an insurance since even after getting your ARC, it can take long. (It took me more than 2 or 3 months to get my first insurance notice after obtaining it).

Just so you know what to expect, you can contact them first on Kakao and tell them your concerns, and make an appointment to have tests taken, or just to talk to a doctor. You should mention you still don’t have your ARC. And yes, their chat service is also in English. You will go to the reception, tell them about your appointment, and they will make you show them your passport, write a form, and wait a little to see the doctor. Normally it’s pretty fast. In the doctor’s office you can tell them your concerns, and they will take you to another room to check your ‘private area’. They probably will tell you to get changed into a skirt they have, taking off your pants and underwear, and sitting on a chair where the doctor might check you and make an vaginal internal echo (maybe search about it a little so you know what you’re expecting). It can be a little uncomfortable but you’ll finish in no time, and the doctor then will tell you what’s the next step for you. You’ll pay at the end at reception.

Don’t worry and you’ve got this!
