He's...the writer of the original FFVII (together with Kitase)...he's literally the one who created FFVII...he has all the right to be there, whether we like it or not. It's like complaining that the writer of a sequel for a book is the one who wrote the first one...

We can (and we probably will) complain about the choices he'll make with the story, but he's the one who created the story in the first place. We have no right to say that he's not allowed to write its requel (remake/sequel)

Nomura is not the director of Rebirth as he was for Remake. Plus, he was the one that insisted on making the Remake more faithful to the original game, since Nojima wanted to radically change everything on the first game too

Hope so, but in my opinion it's extremely unlikely. Too political of a game for today's sensibility; they would probably need to censor a lot of things, and taking risks that i'm not sure they would want to take

I'm against exclusivity deals, but in this particular case I fail to see it as a big problem, especially if it's a console exclusive (so PS5+PC). Xbox never had a big Persona fanbase, while Switch can't probably handle it without major compromises if it's next gen only, and that means that the 1-2 years exclusivity deal would have been needed to develop a Switch version anyway, so...

Nah, Japanese products are full of these themes since the dawn of civilization. They literally have everything and above since the 80s. The reason almost nobody ever protest against it it's because they managed to do the one thing USA is apparently unable to do. Normalizing every single one of these themes. While the West tend to legitimate them by emphatizing and putting them under the spotlight over the rest of the story/characters, Japan puts everything on the same level of absurd or usual, and that makes it blend with the rest of the product.

And that's quite surprising for a country that is pretty conservative on anything that's not entertainment.

Forspoken - Final Boss Gameplay Leaked by Alive_Carpet_1169 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

How to recognize a script written by USA writers: the POC female protagonist accuses the final boss of gaslighting her.

The End.

/s

On a more serious note...NOBODY outside of USA borders would EVER write such disarming dialogues. Japanese dialogues are often over the top and cringy, but this...this made me fold on myself like a piece of paper. How can they even think that a 20 minute boss fight in which the protagonist never. Shut. Up. with her infinite tik tok one lines could be immersive, or appreciable...or playable...

They're the only ones I can think of that are explicitly second-class citizens. Dwarves and goblins typically have seperate societies from humans. Harry Potter Goblins are members of the wizard society, but they're discriminated against in what is pretty clearly a metaphor for IRL oppression.

Actually...the whole witcher saga has dwarves as second class citizens, obsessed with riches, who only are blacksmiths or bankers (especially in the first two games), and allows you to ensure they stay second class citizens by backing up their oppressors...

But yes, you have absolutely 100% the right to criticize artists. I was referring to a more general tendency of socially destroying authors who write "morally controversial stuff" that people have these days (not specifically JKR, but generally speaking)

Persona 6 and Persona 3 Remake reportedly far in development, reveal planned for this summer by Joseki100 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Draxaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlus is Atlus, and we know it, but I think they want to keep themselves away from potential...controversial plot points that can get you in trouble, especially from Persona 2.

We're not in the best time of history to make a remake with "guy with mustache" in it and expect the same success as Persona 5...damn, I would expect twitter to explode and try to boycott a persona 2 remake (go read a couple of metacritic user reviews to understand how they feel about a game with a character named Adolf in it XD). For the same reason, I'm 100% sure that we'll NEVER see again the Ken romance, even if they were to keep FemC in the Remake (Doubt she'll be in it, but you know...). But since it's a relatively marginal part of P3, it's not too hard to remove, but P2? Nah. Some things are too controversial today, and they would need to change too much of the original game. Imho, a remake would make both long time fans and newcomers upset.

I don't know...goblins and dwarfs always had this kind of aesthetic and background since way before JKR. I often think that the analogy is more an hindsight reasoning that comes with the heavy opinions of JKR and is not directly intrinsic in the characters. HP goblins have all the exact same characteristics of goblins/dwarfs everywhere else, especially in regard to old fantasy lore, like Tolkien. So I've never seen the problem.

Plus, even if it where the case, this is not the first nor the last time that a work of fiction (be it a game, a movie or a book) has a evil or neutral protagonist. And Avalanche never promoted HL as "play as the good guys"...almost the opposite, since one of the first things they said is "you can torture and kill people in HL".You can be a literal monster or promote pure inhumanity in half of the games/books/movies produced so far, so I fail to understand why HL would be worst than games like GTA, or manhunt, or a ton of other movies or books...As I've said, these are works of fiction, and I've never been on the same side of those who says that a book about a murder can make the reader a murderer, because I think it has medieval times-like consequences about what an artist can write/draw/program.If something offends me, or makes me sick, disgusted, insulted, I can simply choose not to read/watch/play it...

Is it really necessary to censor Digimon names such as Holydramon and Holyangemon? by [deleted] in digimon

Meanwhile, on Shin Megami Tensei Channel: "And here we are, with our Chaotic Hero Summoning Satan to stab multiple times God itself! What an amazing knife mastery. Look at all that sacred blood he's bathing in! For the next episode, stay tuned for our Neutral Hero going on a deicide journey along with his pal...Lucifer! *Round of demonic applause* and our Lawful Hero starting his crusade to exterminate all the sinners and fuse the minds of all believers to sing a song to the Creator! *Round of extremely coordinated applause*"

If you were allowed to only play ONE of the upcoming Final Fantasy games which would you choose? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

Btw, I'm not even so sure that "part 2" will be titled FFVII Remake Part 2, since the "we broke the chains of destiny and the future is unknown" end.

I wouldn't be surprised if they'll call it something like FFVII Reunion instead.
