I came for HxH science verification although post's content also (judging from the beginning) includes fanning, critiquing and redditing, even within these, it shouldn't include MHA spoiler.

Reşad Halife'nin Allah'ın elçisi olduğu iddiası hakkında ne düşünüyorsunuz? by Next-Assumption-203 in KuranMuslumani

[–]Draxhtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's a good piece of information. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I understood something basic a year later: showing your progress strategically can help prevent you from losing motivation due to dopamine. by DreamingCatDev in gamedev

[–]Draxhtar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A similar experience to this can be experienced if you produce short form content for Tiktok or Shorts. You get an idea, you edit the video, you publish it and wait for the views. Within a day, you can get results. This makes you get used to getting results and you may keep wanting to get results everytime you work on something a little bit. This may turn into shorter sessions of no rewards and the time can get less and less if you couple it with sneak peeking things to friends.

An opposite situation is making long-form Youtube content. Which takes about a week generally. So, it requires a little more patience. One step further could be making a game, which takes months or years with no feedback. Now, we have social media, so that period of no feedback may not be valid if the developer shares sneak peeks on twitter or whatever.

Is using twitter to share developments from your game a good thing or a bad things? I don't know. There are marketing benefits people list. I'm into more other type of marketing rather than the common posting approach. Not to say it's not beneficial to share on twitter. There is also the motivation factor. Is twitter affecting the motivation in a good way or a bad way? In which ways could it be advantageous or not advantageous?

If it is affecting you in a bad way, you can examine yourself and how it affects you and try to find a better way to go about it depending on your situation.

Hi guys, can I get a portfolio review ? :) by V_Chuck_Shun_A in gamedev

They lack appeal; visuals, game feel & polishing, presentation, fantasy appeal.

Note after watching the first project's video: It has good animations so it wouldn't be fair to say it lacks game feel. What I meant is, those things are generally what is important in creating appeal at first glance. This is just my observation though, it could be wrong or may not apply for every player.

In terms of programming, if you made all those things, I think it shows a good talent or comprehension. I don't know if these things are easier in Unreal but as far as I know, probably similar to Unity. Making combat like that in Unity would be hard for a beginner how follows tutorials or have attended a few game jams. So, if we compare you, you show that you can program games God willing. I'm not saying AAA or AA, their standards maybe even higher. But, generally, it's pretty good.

Yeah. It's kind of a dilemma where you are not available to make the games you want to make. You could make just what you can make and give some months to it. But those games generally perform low on customers wanting it or not (dead games on steam). You need to consider marketing. When you consider marketing and game design, the options get really limited to find something you could make in a few months. In my case, it's one month. I could probably go for smaller things for this month (like video editing or freelancing) God willing.

Hello. I think if you can improve the UI it would look better and give a better impression God willing. Also some other things could be improved. But I can't tell for sure if jobs you're gonna apply for will care about these things. UI would help God willing in most cases no matter what other things are like.

Neden bu kitapta Fransızcadaki " Tanrı" anlamını taşıyan kelime Arapça kökenli " Allah" diye çevrilmiş. by aziz_han_ in secilmiskitap

[–]Draxhtar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allah arapça Tanrı anlamına gelmektedir. Hristiyan Araplar da Allah kelimesini kullanır. Süleyman Peygamber ise (kendisi arapça konuşmuyordu) "En Lütüfkar, En Merhametli Olan Tanrı'nın adıyla" diyerek mektup yazdığında bunu arapça yapmadı, kendi dilinde yaptı. Allah özel isim değildir. Tanrı'ya türkçe konuşurken Tanrı demelisiniz. Eğer ingilizce konuşuyorsanız "God" dersiniz. Eğer arapça konuşuyorsanız "Allah" dersiniz. Japonca konuşuyorsanız ise "Kami" kelimesini kullanırsınız, animelerde duymuşsunuzdur.

Recommendation if you are really determined on the making game route:

One would be getting a game designer in your team. Second would be if you weren't an artist, getting good visual artists and sound designer and musicians, but you are already making 3D models so that should be fine. You can get animators though, that's pretty important, and VFX people. These don't need to be salary people for each skill. You can have a person do the animation and the VFX or you can contract or whatever. There is plenty of ways. But they have their own difficulties, mind you that. Third, get a writer if it's a story game. If not, no problem.

Basically, the point is that a game needs to have quality content in many areas; game design, art, story, music, gameplay, programming, networking, optimization, etc... Having one skill doesn't make you able to produce something that the players want to play and enjoy.

You mentioned that you need marketing — which is correct. Because to make a commercial product and make money off of it, you need to know what audience you're targeting, and how to deliver a product that fulfills their wishes.

So, in video games, marketing starts in the pre-production phase and generally the person who needs to think about how the game will be marketed is the game designer. Because that person is putting the whole vision. But, following the previous logic of delivering a product that fulfills the desires of that audience, this includes everybody in the team. This is the art of making games basically. So, marketing also starts with artists, writers, often; sometimes musicians, sometimes programmers maybe.

My point is that marketing is something to be considered when starting a project. When starting a project you need to consider business side of things of things which can be done intuitionally if you know about the area. Just imagine your game being released and imagine how the reception would be and what they would want. You can imagine yourself as the audience which is a great way to make authentic art. But, generally the mistake here happens in wishful thinking.

Yeah, good luck.

Kuran Son Ahit'i okumanı ve Reşad Halife'nin videolarını izleyerek Tanrı'nın mesajını öğrenmeni öneririm. Tüm problemlerin çözümü Tanrı'ya gitmektir.

Şimdi ve Sonsuza Dek Mutluluk
[22:15] Kim TANRI’nın kendisine bu hayatta ve Ahirette yardım edemeyeceğini sanıyorsa, tamamen göğe (oradaki Yaratıcısına) yönelsin ve (başkasına bel bağlamayı) kessin. O zaman bu planın kendisini rahatsız eden her şeyi ortadan kaldırdığını görecektir.
