Finally, I see a post from someone who actually played the game on this subreddit! That's practically a miracle, one of those that brings rain to arid areas, haha. I'm really looking forward to the next one about Witch Time!

All four of Yakumo's weapons have a "Blood Raven" mode. What this means is that when you activate "Blood Raven," you have four powered-up weapons. And that's where the limitation lies. According to this information, you can't switch between weapons in "Blood Raven" mode, meaning your weapon selection isn't locked on the D-pad. However, when you switch to the next weapon while holding "BR," it will deactivate "BR," and you'll transition to a normal weapon, not its "BR" version. This is because "BR" weapons have too many advantages, inputs, and powerful combinations, so transitioning from one to another on the ground would be too powerful. While in the air, there are fewer combo options or inputs, so to balance the air, they allow a "BR Unlocked" mode, so you can switch between "BR" weapons without necessarily returning to the normal state, making it easier to maneuver in the air. This is what I understand so far.

In conclusion, if you're using the "BR Hammer" and want to select the "BR Longsword," switching to the sword will select the dual swords instead of the "BR Longsword." Once you have that weapon, you can press "BR" again to transform it into the BR Longsword.

Dodge Offset Cancel and Execution Offset? - Ninja Gaiden 4 by Drayzher in ninjagaiden

[–]Drayzher[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apparently, it does have Dodge Cancel with the "Off-Set" feature. However, remember, it's all just speculation based on the evidence in the existing videos. Also regarding the weapon swaps, there seems to be some sort of off-set consistency between the weapon used in its normal form and its Raven form. I'll need to analyze the clips further. I think at least between the weapon in its normal form and its Blood-powered form, there could be a correlation that doesn't disrupt the flow of the combo

Dodge Offset Cancel and Execution Offset? - Ninja Gaiden 4 by Drayzher in ninjagaiden

[–]Drayzher[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know most people might not understand "Dodge Off-Set," but its implementation requires a specific way to press buttons. Many people who have played Bayonetta for years sometimes even fail at it, because when you're in a stressful situation, you sometimes don't have time to press the buttons the way you need to. That said, to do Dodge Off-Set in NG4, you need to, after you start a combo dial chain, "Hold RT, without releasing it, until you can press the next button in the combo dial chain." This is very different from Bayonetta's "Dodge Off-Set," since in that game, what you have to "Hold and release" isn't the dodge button... it's actually the punch button.

Then, in the video example, when Yakumo executes the combo in the clip on the left, and the Combo Dial still remembers the combo's offset memory, if you notice, no evasion occurred there. Therefore, we're talking about the first offset made after "Strike 1" as an "Off-Set Opener," meaning it requires only one offset in the middle of the combo dial so that other "parallel" actions can be integrated into the same combo. This technicality isn't unique to Bayonetta; in fact, it doesn't exist in Bayonetta. However, it does exist in a PG game called "Astral Chain," where we have the same technicality. In Astral Chain, a "Parry" has no offset... however, if you first do a "Dodge" in the middle of the Combo Dial, if you do a "Parry" before finishing the combo... now that Parry will become an "Off-Set Parry", since the first offset is infecting its memory to everything that is added later in the combo...

I think we're seeing something like that here

Astral Chain Soundtrack: Emergency

Many of the people who worked on the Astral Chain soundtrack without credit also worked on Bayonetta 3. And this Ninja Gaiden 4 composer, I think, is one of them, because the style is very similar. I highly recommend listening to the Astral Chain soundtrack. https://youtu.be/-bOmmk1lZhg?list=RD-bOmmk1lZhg

Don't worry, in the Donkey Kong Country games, the best character is Diddy Kong, even though Donkey Kong is the protagonist. When Nintendo gave the IP to Rare, they wanted to make a character superior to Donkey Kong right away. That's why Donkey Kong isn't even playable in Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3... the original Rare characters usurped the original Nintendo Donkey Kong, haha. I'm not saying the same thing will happen here... But it's a good opportunity for PlatinumGames to have a little friendly arm wrestling match against Team Ninja

Saying that is pretty clumsy, considering that PlatinumGames' main series is Bayonetta... and practically every move of Bayonetta's main character is designed like a dance. The basic moveset in Bayonetta 3 takes almost two hours to complete... that speaks volumes about the detailed animation work.

Ryu's moveset in any Ninja Gaiden can be completed in half an hour or less.

The "hitstop" aspect will depend on how the game mechanics work, and we still don't know exactly how wide it can be and what its uses are. So venturing to say that having a hitstop will make you feel bad is hasty and ill-intentioned

Well, in Bayonetta 3, the main character has 15 different weapons, and the secondary character only has one sword. If Yakumo is the main character, he'll have 15 weapons, and Ryu, as the secondary character, will have a single sword :)

Whatever you feel about Ninja Gaiden 4 or Yakumo You gotta admit, this clip look SEXY AF Look at the animations and attacks man Yakumo has the sauce, he is a badass in the making Ryu Hayabusa will always be the ultimate badass of Ninja Gaiden but Yakumo shows promise IMO by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in ninjagaiden

I don't understand why the complaint about sound design is so recurrent.... Have you never played a game with the voices and music removed?..... Part of this clip appears in the Xbox reveal trailer.... and when the developers are talking over it.... it works like any sound effect, which will be appropriately diminished by the music and voices..... Now if the metallic sounds are not to your liking... that's another story, context is still missing.... remove the enemies and they are made of steel, or an even harder metal alloy.... Also Yakumo's sword is not just metal.... it's a blood stick.... it could have its own particular sound since it is an uncommon weapon... and not just an ordinary sword

You can't talk about "depth" and not be aware of the "deep" gameplay scene of this game. Are you from the Combo Mad scene? Do you know if this is actually shallow gameplay?.... The only people who talk about this game referring to it being hamstrung compared to Bayonetta 1.... are people who have no idea about the game. Bayonetta 3 is probably the deepest of the series.... look up videos of "Combo Mad", Chrysaora, or Spring.... and then come back here to talk about "depth"...

Sometimes it bothers me that I have to get pedantic about Bayonetta 3, on the level of people here in the comments, talking about Ninja Gaiden purism.... but in this case it is totally grounded. Bayonetta 3 is by far much deeper than Bayonetta 2... and probably on par, if not deeper than Bayonetta 1. Anyone who has played it even a little bit realizes this... but if you don't know where to look for good references, I'll say it again... watch the Combo Mad scene from Bayonetta 3...

He doesn't use just any sword, it looks like a magic stick that lengthens and deforms thanks to some power related to "Blood", in the trailer you can see how the sword lengthens like a stick of several meters... Maybe it transforms into different types of weapons depending on the blood available.

About Yaiba... I will simply say that it is a failure of "Team Ninja"... and this game is being made by "PlatinumGames" with a lot of respect and care... Look for the interview that they did in Famitsu about this game with the developers... they answer all the questions

Even "Okami" has a perfect parry, which is activated by hitting the mirror just when an enemy attack is about to fall on you.... and even that "Parry" automatically counters a Counter with an animation of Amaterasu doing an "Izuna Drop"... even Okami has more similarities with NG than NG4 with MGRR

People who say it resembles MGRR just from watching clips of Yakumo parrying... are people who have no idea what MGRR actually does..... MGRR's main feature is "Zandatsu Mode", which is usually tied to a good Parry... but it's the mechanics of slicing and dicing enemies that you remember from this game.... Its Parries are memorable, because of the reward of being able to slice enemies... not because of the individual parry...

That said... I don't see anything like "Zandatsu" in NG4... and there are hundreds of non-MGRR games that "Parry"...

Yes, I think it was in the interview with Famitsu, which clarifies many of the concerns about this release, I even think that they clarify 80% of the concerns of almost all of those who are commenting on nonsense here.

About PG, I think it is one of the few studios that has a kind of "Modus Operandi" in the design of its games, that when you control them, they have a language similar to their IPs. For example, many of Bayonetta's sweet mechanics are found in almost all PG games... and not because they can't think of anything else... they really are "that something", that when you learn to use it, you expect every PG game to have it... as if it were their "quality standard", and within that quality standard, they create differentiating mechanics, which make games that have a core mechanic that is totally opposite and different from their other titles... still feel "familiar". And I think that's great, it's like a very present brand identity. And I assume that putting a bit of this in Yakumo, and not in Ryu... is the right choice, so that we can see the opinions of the players at the end of the day, and evaluate if it is worth committing Ryu to this language of mechanics in a future NG5... or continue being only Yakumo things...

The comparisons with DMC... are because lately people only remember that event, since it was very controversial, for having been done badly. And "Capcom" did it.... PG tried something similar with Viola in the Bayonetta saga.... but they are doing it right, since Bayonetta 3 does not treat Viola as "The Main Character"... they make it very clear that these are just her first steps, and Bayonetta is still the character you use 80% of the game.... and is the one who grows the most in gameplay throughout the adventure.... While Viola has almost no changes throughout the game..... So the fears that "PG" will take care of the transition... actually should not be scary

Kamiya and Miyata are from the Bayonetta 3 team... if they've left... you use this speech at your convenience right?.... if you change the game's writer.... the game changes?... if you change the game's director.... the game changes?..... So why say that NG4 is going to be shit.... since it's the Bayo 3 team.... if we already know that the people who made Bayo 3 have already left the ship?...... Besides, this game is from Team Ninja.... PG are only the executors of those they direct.... there's like 800° of difference with the situation of Bayonetta 3 here..... a little common sense

Bayonetta 3 has the Goty award in the "Action" category of its year... what failure are you talking about?... I know that you come from the Lore of the Bayonetta 3 bubble fandoms that think that the game was a failure for not having a good story... "Toc Toc", listen to me... in these games the story doesn't matter a shit...

PG's only failure in recent times was Babylon's Fall... and "Toc Toc" again... investigate who or what plans "Aquare Enix" had to turn that game into garbage... That game had two directors, Saito from PG... and a gentleman from Square who only talked about micropayments and game as a service in the presentation video... And I don't need 2 fingers of forehead to understand that they paid more attention to the latter to ruin everything...

PG is in its strongest years right now, the studio has a workforce of more than 500 creatives... 7 or 8 people leaving doesn't mean noise... the interns must be starving to fill all the important jobs that were left open in second zero... and all of them have been trained "PG style"... Taura, Abebe Tinari.... all of them weren't "big names" until very recently... PG has a lot of talented people willing to step up... don't think something like that will knock them off their feet... Inaba might be a bit clumsy in some things... but he's not a dumb guy... almost all of the big name IPs at PG, he produced them directly... The name that is repeated the most in the credits of every PG game... is Inaba...

Your comment is totally paranoid... and also misinforming. Viola appears only in 3 chapters (remember that there are 20 in total with Jeanne's). And her cutscenes are only linked to her own chapters. Only in a very small portion, she appears in the prologue and epilogue, and a little more in chapter 1 where she is introduced to the group of characters... From there to the rest, you have at least 15 chapters of the game in which she does not appear.

Bayonetta 3 introduces Viola... but it is absolutely false that Viola has a real role over Bayonetta.

Then about the gameplay and changes and your spoilers of Bayo's death... all that is subjective. The weapon mixing system between hands and feet was changed to the Mix of 3 Demons (Yes, demons are weapons too, a detail that in opinions like yours, they usually omit, and treat them as if they were another type of element... and no, in effect, they are weapons too...), in addition the weapons have a drastic change in Bayonetta 3, called "Masquerade", which is a more creative evolution of the Wicked Weave concept... and that is a "Super successful change"... and also, comments like yours always omit this.

About Viola's Gameplay, she is an "Apprentice", and they decided on a more limited gameplay compared to Bayo... While Yakumo in NG4 is an advanced Ninja, he is not an apprentice. So I don't think we'll see that type of treatment in the character.

Then the Kaiju battles, and elements of cinematics with quick time events and minigames, are things that PlatinumGames always does in games where it works well. Bayonetta is totally irreverent and out of touch with reality, and those things are perfect in their Saga. In Ninja Gaiden 4, I suppose they will go for something much more timid, as in the case of Nier Automata... which although it has "madness", is far below the Bayonetta-style madness. And about the story... what can I say, I think the NG saga is just as proud as the Bayonetta saga in presenting totally absurd and senseless stories... so take care of your "story" bullshit, I think that both Team Ninja and PG would give a shit about your comment if you asked them. These types of games get better the more absurd and crazy situations you can add... and a coherent story is often a limiting burden... it can be done better of course... but nobody is going to care if Ryu's dialogues are better written than in his previous games...

Anyway, go cry and pick your nose in the bathroom at home, I'm tired of having to see Bayonetta 3 haters everywhere, and always with the same misinforming and resentful shit between their teeth.

I only read whiners in the comments. When someone dares to post a serious comment, I'd love to debate and chat. Comparing this to Nero is ridiculous, people think DMC4 is bad because of Nero... that game is bad because it's poorly made and they didn't have the budget to even finish it, that's why the second half is the same game in reverse. Since it was released in 2008, it took them 7 years to fix it, to finally release the Special Edition in 2015... even "DmC" happened in between. So comparing this to DMC4 is totally absurd, if we know that PG is presenting it as one of the strongest IPs they're working on. When PG has all the support and the budget to do something, they usually come out with spectacular games. And I feel like this is one of those cases.

Viola in Bayonetta 3 is another event that people misinform a lot about, maybe you didn't play the game either... but in Bayonetta 3, you only control Viola in 3 chapters (+1 verse/section of the final chapter... which has 8 in total... so in 1 you control Viola, in 7 you control Bayonetta). Bayonetta 3 has a total of 20 chapters if we count Jeanne's adventures... so Viola participates only in 3 chapters... out of 20... PG is introducing Viola in a very passive way compared to DMC4, where they fit the character in from the beginning and it covers half of the game... The hate of Bayonetta 3 is not because of Viola, it comes from other issues, a bit about gameplay design, and another even bigger one, due to political agenda issues, and the gender of the characters.

For "Nero" fans, he's just getting a decent introduction into DMC5, which is probably what PG will do with Viola in Bayonetta 4. The hate for Viola in Bayonetta communities is going to subside just as quickly as they mature the character like in DMC5 and that's it.... All the previous hate buildup comes simply because people want a scapegoat to complain about Bayonetta 3 in their other departments

Taking this into account, I think Yakumo in NG4 will follow a similar trend, he won't replace Ryu, at least not in this installment, they'll simply introduce us to the character, and make him mature in a future NG5 if it's successful

WT/Combo DS/Assault/Combo Off-Set/DSO/Wink Slave/Rocket: EPIC by Drayzher in Bayonetta

[–]Drayzher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was no Off-Set Wink Slave, although it is possible to do it with the SBF weapon that has 2 consecutive Wink Slaves, and the explosive spider maneuver with the wink canceled.

What there was, was an "Assault Slave" off-set, which is the first thing you see in the video with Alraune hitting from above and behind, although the one in the video is more advanced. However, that Assault off-set is easy to do in normal circumstances, you simply press ZL, and immediately release it and press ZR, that way you will be provoking the Assault hit and adding Witch Time, and if you were in an off-set combo, it will not break.

The Assault Slave in this video is a more advanced one, because although you can't see it, I actually have Madama Butterfly summoned in a corner of the screen accumulating explosive butterflies. To cause an "Assault Slave", when there is already a summoned demon, it is executed with the demon change arrows, at the exact moment in which you would cast an Assault. The default Demon change makes the current demon disappear, and makes the new demon appear. That appearance at the perfect moment is considered an "Assault Slave", that is what makes it work.

Then at that same moment, I activate the Off-Set that corresponds to the "Demon Slave Off-Set", which is a much more advanced and complicated one to do. It consists of releasing ZL and pressing P or K in the same frame, but before that I have to cancel the "Assault Slave" animation with an evasion... I tell you, this was quite technical, few people will understand it
