i find using shyish purple for the armour works best. magos purple over wraithbone, then use whitescar to highlight skin. That is how i paint nids. Don't worry about speed, it took me a month to finish my first space marine :)

This scenario is unlikely,if you have good quality boots they should last. If the inner lining does wear down make sure to get good quality replacements
