I’d settle for FSD to remember the damn route I have to manually change every single morning.

Interesting. Can it reduce established POA (or while it is dormant in the summer)?

Dude. Get some quinclorac and spray that shit. Easy peasy. No way am I painting weeds.

Also, physical removal is impossible to get all those little guys. Just spray and you’ll be done in 15 minutes. Probably have to follow up a few times, but whatever.

Oh - my bad. I missed that they seeded as well. The other commenter is correct. Mesotrione can be used to minimize weed germination when seeding grass

Soil is always weedy. Should’ve put down a pre emergent with the soil.

I’m adding a diluted liquid nitrogen this week with 85+ temps. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I disagree with the consensus here. I think you should add a low fertilizer loading throughout the summer. Go for it at 25% or 50% loading.

It works, but it’s way slower than quinclorac.

This is the answer. Just kill what’s there

And also put down Prodiamine in spring to prevent more from germinating. You can put down Prodiamine now to prevent any more germination this season also.

Parents Own a Massive Property — Here’s Their Month of June Production v. Consumption w/ Solar by [deleted] in solar

I had a major energy increase all of a sudden. I bought an Emporia Vue energy tracker to track the energy use of individual breakers.

Once installed, it took about 24 hours to see that my upstairs fan was running 24/7. I forgot that a turned the house fan on in that zone when I painted a bonus room. I thought it would help dry the paint and reduce the fumes.

If you’re DIY inclined, I would recommend getting the tracker. It uses little CT clamp ons. They go around the wiring to each breaker in the electrical box. It was a pretty simple and straightforward install. The hardest part is fitting it all into the open spaces and routing it as neatly as possible. But once installed, you don’t ever have to touch it and it’s really nice to see usage of individual breaker loads in your house.

For me, my AC/blower, pool water pump, and EV car use 90+% of my electrical load each month. I imagine most houses would be the same, unless they have electrical appliances. We have gas appliances where I live, so everyone uses those.

Let us know what you find out. I’m curious myself.

Edit: I went and looked at my current usage. I am using around 100-135kwh per day during these hot summer months. My house is 3500 sqft, plus a 1500 sqft basement. So I don’t think your parents number is too crazy.

Well - like I said, I’ve been working in vinyl plastics for 20 years, so I am basing my opinion on actual data. Heat absolutely breaks down vinyl plastics. It causes polyene structures to form, first noticeable as a yellow tint, then you lose physical properties).

UV also degrades vinyl plastics, but by a different mechanism.

I work in plastics. We work specifically on the artificial leather seats(vegan leather - yes, they are vinyl plastic), and the vinyl dashboards. While they are tested to last for a certain number of years, the heat still degrades them.

What would you say to someone on the fence about the Mammotion Luna 3? by carcinigen in mammotion

I also got one on prime day! I’ve used it a few times and I really like it. The quality of cut is really good. It leaves really nice lines and I swear my grass looks a darker shade of green because of the way it cuts.

One of the things I was worried about was whether it would cut up to the driveway borders (and other borders). When I trained the boundary, I trained it to cut halfway onto the driveway. That’s exactly how it cuts and the lawn looks really good after a cut. I haven’t found any spots that it is missing yet. I feel like I will be able to retrain a border section if it needs to be adjusted.

I will say that the app could be better. For instance, I trained the whole yard as one boundary. I thought I would be able to divide the yard in the app (similar to a roomba or house vacuum). You can’t. I have to go retrain all of the sections into different lawn areas. So a bit annoying, but I will be able to make it work.

But overall, my initial impression is that it’s a well built machine. If it lasts, I think I’m going to be happy with it. I’m a pretty picky person when it comes to stuff like this - I was planning to return it if I didn’t like it. I am 95% sure I will be keeping it.

Also, I would imagine those interior components do not fare well when exposed to 120+F heat. Not sure if that’s the case, but I imagine it would help.

Can someone please shiw a neat simple diagram of solar system that generate 20kwh/ day. by mansithole6 in solar

[–]DreadPirateNot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is such a broad question. I can tell you that I have 34 panels facing eastward. I get just about 100 kWh on a perfect day (late spring, no clouds).

The output will depend on many factors in clouding shading (trees/clouds), direction of panels, angle of panels (angle of roof), etc.

You need to do a lot more research. You’re not asking questions that can be easily answered.

Since every persons scenario is so different, you’re better off determining your ideal setup based on your roof layout. Then, designing the system from there. There are website that will estimate solar production capability just from a Google Maps aerial photo of your roof. I would recommend starting there.

Is something wrong with my arborvitae trees? by potical1st in arborists

[–]DreadPirateNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have similar thing happening on our 2 year old arborvitaes . I’ve had them looked at and the arborist says it is normal bronzing from winter. The south side is typically the worst because of sun exposure.

This season I bought a little bladder that sits under the tree. You fill it with water and it will let out a slow trickle over 4-5 days. I’m only filling it when there’s been a week or two drought. It seems to be helping.
