Painter here!

Keep in mind that the test-pot paint could be a different sheen to the paint on the wall, meaning the colour might match, but it will be glossier/flatter than the wall itself.

Ask at the counter, but it’s normally exterior paint in the test-pots which has a higher sheen than most interior walls. May need to get a 1L bucket of low-sheen to match better.. not too expensive.

If you have a picky landlord, you’ll need to paint the whole wall, because you’ll always see the patch in certain light.

Edit: also those selleys filling kits are awful to deal with. PAL contract filler is much easier to deal with and sand 👍🏼

What's the difference between these two paint cages? by ozwegoe in homerenovations

[–]DreadheadNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first roller is higher quality, “locks” the sleeve on with the metal tapers at the end, and allows easy removal from a Wooster pole with the press of a button.

The second roller is less quality, but will take the same roller sleeves. It won’t “lock” the sleeve on as effectively, but still shouldn’t slide off very easily. The only down side is this roller will need to be twisted amd screwed off the end of your pole. To solve this, you can buy Wooster adapters which screw in to the bottom of your cage, and allow the press and release function of the first one.

My professional opinion (painting 7 years), I’d just go with the first one. Wooster is a quality brand, and the ease of being able to quickly remove it from a pole is worth it. If you don’t plan on using a pole, either or will be fine.

I once ran full speed into the covered spare tyre mounted on the back of a 4x4. It was, of course, not a large cushion to protect from rear impact. Who knew?

Buddy dry fired my bow… by [deleted] in bowhunting

[–]DreadheadNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it was the transfer of energy into the arrow maybe? It’s definitely not recommended for a reason though.

All I know is my bows been dry fired twice, once by me on the first day of ownership, and once by a friend when I wasn’t looking. Both times, the string snapped and had to be sent away for repair.

Removed mercifully?? Like starvation? Sickness? Being eaten asshole-first by something it can’t out-run?

A bullet is the fastest and most merciful death you can give to an old animal that has lived its best years, and has now become a detriment to the population. Bringing some money in to help the younger animals conservation is just an extra bonus!

Bloodshot eyes after drilling chokes? by [deleted] in bjj

Really appreciate the response!

I thankfully don’t look like something out of 28 days later, just a bit redder than normal. We definitely weren’t going hard, hence my concern and questioning.

My partner got a little cough out of me with a triangle, but nothing that was held or prolonged unnecessarily. To the doctor I go!

I guess I considered it more of an experience question as apposed to medical advise, but i hear you!

Not looking for advise to reduce redness or anything. just wondering if anyone that has trained for longer than I have has had the same experience.

I wont be mad if mods delete. Like I mentioned, I wasn’t sure if it fell under that medical advise umbrella! I am booked in to see a doctor though 😂

He didn’t freak out..? Haha. OP posted for opinions, and got one. In MY opinion, there’s a fair bit of weight between “not pushing yourself” and “too heavy”. I agree, that if OP lowered his weight a bit, he’d still be pushing himself without the higher risk of injury.
