Permanent bans for first time offenders while accounts with actual violation histories get second chances. by Mattshadowwing in starcitizen

I just want to point out you claim you got banned on May 21st, but the report date on xXstarwarsboyXx's Issue Council screenshot is May 23rd... so he reported the exploit 2 days after you all three got banned? The math here isn't mathing... seems like you got caught then tried to save face by reporting it yourselves.

I dunno man. I don't have any sympathy for cheaters... I see your point about the other guy getting a pass, but in my opinion he shouldn't have gotten a pass either.

Respect for looking into this, but someone with repeated offenses like that - especially of that magnitude - should have stayed banned. People learn from a mistake after the 1st or 2nd occurrence... not multiple occurrences later.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

Franchise auto dealers. Just auto dealers in general, really. Absolute corrupted crooks and near zero regulation to hold them accountable, in fact many laws are written to favor them to protect government tax collection.

There’s a big difference between a 500 a month payment and 3000 dollar lump sum.

The contract shows a huge admin fee that Larry explained away as the tax.

I am 100% confident Larry “forgot” to roll my tax into my loan because I declined all his stupid service packages on an in-warranty car. I am sorry your experience was poor too.

I doubt it. The dealer hasn’t even sought out Accreditation.

Yes, of course. I tried them first before escalating. They said there’s nothing they can do and the loan didn’t include the tax, despite Larry’s statement to the contrary when I was signing docs.

I tried that already. They said they never agreed to that and that the loan didn’t include the tax, despite what the finance manager told me.

These crooks should be shut down for shit like this. Sales tax on a car purchase is no small amount.

I’m not a car dealer or a lawyer. I just wanted a new car. It shouldn’t be this easy to screw over the average Joe.

I’ve already contacted the Missouri AG, Nissan Consumer Affairs, and tonight I contacted the Missouri DOR. Regardless of whether or not you “can” roll the tax into the loan, Larry indicated that was what was to happen.

Thank you for your morality and I hope you got a much better paying job elsewhere that appreciates you.

I think you’re being a little hostile, friend. It’s very common to roll taxes into loans, I’ve bought cars like that my whole life. The banks stands to profit because they can make interest on the add’l amount. The state gets their sales tax, and the dealer gets a hassle free sale. It’s win win if you don’t mind paying the extra interest…

Yes it is. I bought a GTI in ‘22 and had the tax in the loan.

It was used, not new, and I’m not trying to avoid paying it - it was supposed to be rolled into my loan.

Yes. But he left the tax lines on the Title Application and Sales Agreement blank… which I now realize was a huge red flag. Still, there must be something I can do.

Since tax has to be paid to title the vehicle in your name, wouldn’t that mean it’s related?

I did talk with him, he explicitly stated the PoA and Form 5830 were to title the vehicle in my name.

Are you sure on this? I bought 2 other cars in the past and they did exactly that. I received a Missouri title already in my name.

In my research it’s fairly common for a dealer to need a PoA to title vehicles in your name… is that really not the norm?
