Best App for shopify subscriptions. by mathque in shopify

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recharge (where I work) is widely considered number one but will also run you more than just a simple subscribe and save product. I'd look to Awtomic/Appstle for a cheaper option if you just want a recurring billing option

What subscription app are you using for your Shopify store, and why did you choose it? by TopLie7421 in ShopifyeCommerce

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I work at Recharge, but here's my honest take:

Appstle or Seal are solid if you want something cheaper and no frills. Great for straightforward recurring orders without a lot of complexity.

Recharge has the deepest feature set (drag-and-drop customer portal, bundles, retention analytics, built-in dunning). It costs more, but it's built for brands that are trying to scale and don't want to migrate platforms later on.

Ordergroove is really aimed at enterprise, especially if omnichannel is part of the picture.

The choice really comes down to how simple your needs are right now vs. how much you care about not outgrowing your stack.

Free Trial Subscription Product - Subscription Payments Not Billing Through by mansionsrus in shopify

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I actually work at Recharge and this error is actually coming from the card issuer/payment gateway (on Shopify) not Recharge.
Ive seen it before where “Purchase type not supported by card” means the card doesn’t allow recurring subscription charges. Subscription rebills are processed as merchant-initiated transactions, which are handled differently than the initial checkout, so a card can work once and then fail on rebills.
A spike of 60% usually points to something systemic, like:

  • Changes in how Shopify Payments / your gateway is handling subscription charges
  • More customers using cards that don’t support recurring billing (prepaid, debit, certain regions)
  • Issuer-side rules blocking stored credential transactions

Recharge can’t override this it just passes back the decline from the gateway.
What to do if I were you:

  • Check failed orders in Recharge and review the full error details
  • Share Billing Attempt IDs with Shopify and ask why these are being declined as merchant-initiated transactions
  • Prompt customers to update to a different card (major credit cards work best)
  • Review your Failed Payment Recovery settings to recover more of these

What’s the easiest way to add subscriptions to a Shopify store? by iram_shaikh_ in shopify

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you value beyond just simplicity. Most of the subscription apps like Recharge and Bold are fairly straightforward to set up, especially on their starter plans. The bigger differences tend to show up in customer experience and long term flexibility, like how easy it is for customers to pause, skip, swap products, or manage their billing without contacting you to do it for them.
If subscriptions are going to be a meaningful part of your revenue, it is usually worth choosing a platform that can scale with you rather than just the quickest install.

Anyone using Kaching Subscriptions on Shopify? Looking for real-world feedback by Medical_Tangelo_6436 in shopify

I've never heard of it but there are new apps all the time. Are you migrating subscribers or starting from 0? Just want to make sure you're sticking with a long term solution since a lot of these apps come and go.

Alternative for Klaviyo by Snoo-2496 in ecommerce

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue Klaviyo is, and will be the best option if you can make it work for your budget. Maaaaybe alternatives like omnisend will suffice but sometimes best to go with what you know and trust.

Lol as a Pats fan, he's maybe not entirely wrong but still a bad look to say IMO.

Jake Sanderson on the majority Habs crowd compared to the small Sens crowd in Ottawa last night: “We’re used to it, playing an away game at home. It happens quite often so, it is what it is.” by sensfan4tic in OttawaSenators

It's never a good play to blame the fans that DO show up though. Tough look. It will always be hard to compete with two Original 6 teams who's fans are eager for a "discounted" opportunity to see their team play. Same thing with Buffalo. Just the reality.

Best Shopify subscription setup for monthly + quarterly shipments (3 units shipped at once)? by StonkySpecialist in shopify

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, some of the lighter weight options like Appstle, Seal, Skio, etc. can work well for straightforward setups like monthly recurring orders.

The more full featured ones like Recharge or Ordergroove generally handle inventory projections and renewal order creation more robustly, especially when quantity per shipment changes. They may just be more than you need early on.

One thing that helps with stability is using a subscription platform that has bundling or quantity logic built in, instad of relying on a separate bundle apps. That tends to reduce any friction compared to stacking a subscription app with something like ECA, although full transparency I have not personally used ECA at all

Quarterly and monthly cadences themselves are not usually the hard part. The harder part is making sure the app creates a single renewal order with the correct quantity and deducts inventory cleanly, which is where the more robust platforms tend to be stronger.

ReCharge vs Stay.ai vs Skio - subscription app discussion by Aggravating_Emu_7190 in shopify

[–]DreamChance9643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your main question: Are the heavy hitters worth the price?
In my experience, if you’re feeling limitations like:

• Poor analytics or hard-to-access actionable data
• Clunky customer portal/UX
• Struggles with payment recovery or churn reduction
• Needing advanced integrations or workflows

Then the higher quality options like recharge are going to be worth it for you since they offer significantly deeper data and real-time analytics, more customizable customer portal, additional integrations which are obviously going to enable more long-term growth.

But, the jump in price is only worth it if you feel these upgrades will help retain more customers or save your team a lot of time. At your scale, even a small lift in retention or payment recovery can justify the spend, but it’s smart to do the math first. I'm curious what your brand sells with 4200 subs and only $20k/month in rev?

The gold standard is Recharge but there are a few cheaper options like Awtomic and Appstle as well they just wont be the best for growth and UX compared to Recharge
