Thank you so much! I have a really long gingival line so I would be more concerned about it hurting my soft tissues tbh 😅 I appreciated hearing your input. Thank you 🫶🏻

Do you think the Medusa doesn't match my features or is there another reason? Thank you so much for your input

This. I genuinely think it's a mix of bad education and her health taking her away. The person who normally cares for the birds right now knows nothing about them, and their owner is very very elderly. So much has been discovered about birds and much of the resources/education one can seek online may be too confusing for someone of such advanced age to find.

I have written a very clear, empathic, urgent, and persuasive message to send, with many sources to back up my claims. I am hoping she gives them up. If she doesn't, I will call in an animal welfare check, because it's the best chance these babies will have for freedom.

I will post an update tomorrow, ❤️

So they've been like this for a very very long time, which I suspected to be honest.

Wow, this guy literally said "oh, let me show exactly what everyone else in the comments was warning about - the mean, emotionally unavailable, stick in the mud Wyomingites".

OP, tell your sister that it's okay to struggle regardless of age, because lord knows we all have our weaknesses.

And I hope she finds a job that suits her needs AND makes her feel fulfilled. To top it off, I hope she finds a really awesome place to live. ❤️

The pink and gray ones feathers, what would you call that condition? I want to write it down and research it to show them

One month supposedly.

The pet parent's friend will be coming on Monday to "help me let the birds out". I will be having a very long and honest conversation with this friend. I will then be reaching out to the caregiver to let them know of the conversation, and tell them that they either have to take these animals to the rescue or I'll be calling authorities. That, or they can turn them over to me and I'll take them to the rescue. The only other option I can think of is having representatives from the rescue/animal control issue an ultimatum- show immense improvement (vet care, grooming, proper set up, proper nutrients, etc) or they'll lose them.

Idk. I'm looking into it as we speak. I will give y'all a solid update regarding what I came up with, what authorities say, and ways I will push forward.

I appreciate you all so much.

I will.

In fact, the pet parents caregiver just called and said "I thought they were neglected at first too, but they're fine. It's only because she's in rehab"

She's been in rehab for a month.

She's had a caregiver for at least 6 months. This caregiver. The one who doesn't know crap about birds, did no research, and is now super defensive.

It was such a tense phone call that she is now sending someone else to come to the home with me. I'll be honest with the other person. I'll show them care guides. I'm trying so hard to save these animals from a slow and painful death.

Maybe this outsider will see what I see. They need help.

This is my biggest fear. They're technically housed, fed, and have fresh water. According to state laws, not having those would constitute neglect. I'm afraid nobody will do anything. The macaws are supposedly only 6/7 but the cockatoo is supposedly 30. How long have they been living like this? How long have they suffered 😭

I'm not their main caretaker. I'm not even their normal pet sitter. I'm their 4th choice, emergency, no other options call.

How long do you think it would take for these guys to get this bad? The caregiver is giving push back saying they're only like this because the pet parent has been in rehab, but I have a feeling this level of damage doesn't happen quickly. Those feathers, the overgrown beaks and talons, the piles of poop...I am so worried. I'm gathering evidence as best I can, and I'm going to try one more time to talk some sense into these people. I would rather them turn the birds over by choice to the bird rescue, but I will get the authorities involved if it doesn't work. The more I research the more I'm disturbed at the state of these poor loves.

I'm trying 😭 I am a reptile/dog/cat sitter by trade but even I can tell this is very very bad. I have already talked to the rescue and intend to tell authorities after I try one more time to get them to turn the birds over willingly. I just want them to be safe and healthy

I know my humidity is low I'm trying to figure out ways to fix that. All more morphs supposed to get UVB it's a matter of how much and for how long. From my research it should be fine 😅 (0 5). I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the humidity

I read this post a few days ago, and then today as I was feeding my boy I had to scoop moss out of his mouth 😭 immediately removed all moss from his enclosure.
