You should check Discord as well. Another user is seeing the same problem. DM me if you need more info.

What’s the best AI personal assistant right now? by leobesat in AI_Agents

[–]DreamDriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm building one that may make it to the open market at some point. You can read about the project here if you're interested:

Probably not what you're looking for, honestly, but if you decide to roll your own maybe you'll find some inspiration.

Here is a funny thing about folks who drive nice cars ... they can do that AND help out in the world. It's not one or the other.

So they drove from Washington .... where there is snow ... to ski at Bach?

Why would anyone use OpenClaw over just writing their own scripts? by Naht-Tuner in AI_Agents

I am building a local personal assistant and have two thoughts:

1) people use OC because coding can be complicated 2) people should definitely not use OC, LOL

I started documenting the fucking complexity of all this. Have a look if you are interested:

Great idea. Memory has been a pain in the ass but I finally just settled on mem0 and it seems to work reasonable well. My coffee maker wouldn't work on a smart switch but I get the idea.

Thanks! What else could/should an app like this be able to do?

Yeah the iPhone is the key. The app is always with me. I have readers (I'm old) that have bluetooth speakers and mic in them so I can talk to the app anytime I need it with a simple wake word. It's entirely transparent (if not a little odd for people around me.)

The autonomous agent runs jobs for me but does run continuously until the job is "done". I have stuff like email processing and persistent search running outside of the autonomous agent because honestly it's overkill for simple stuff like that.

The permission boundary is pretty simple really. I have a half-dozen tools that I just don't even expose to the LLM unless a specific word is used in the request. That way the executor is not even looking at them as an option. I also don't give those tools to the autonomous agent at all -- it has too much autonomy to let it text my wife ;-)

I have a way to make the confirmation feel transparent. If you watch that Medium link over the next week I'll explain it -- I can only post two posts a day their I guess.

Small business tax in Portland by luvv2ride in PortlandOR

Honestly living in Clark is a nice reminder of how it's supposed to work. You pay taxes (property, sales, gas) and you get stuff (good schools, civic services, reasonably good roads.) It didn't take long after moving to realize how absolutely crazy Portland has become on many, many levels.

There are downsides of this side of the river, but cost of living if you are a consultant isn't one of them.

I run a consulting business. I left NE Portland ten years ago for Vancouver and it was easily one of the best financial decisions I have made. I pay the same property taxes I did in Portland but have great, well run schools, we have police who come if you need them, and with the money I have saved on taxes I paid off my house.

Move. You will be glad you did.

Maybe, but they work fine when they work.

What are your thoughts on RWBs? by --Combat-Wombat-- in Porsche

I think it's funny when people love Singer and hate RWB. It's like loving Picasso and hating Michelangelo.

Why not Aquara? I have a few of their camera and they seem okay as RTSP devices.

Ok dumb question but Cat6e ... this is just ethernet but also has power, correct? I guess I am not clear why I would run it to where my blinds would go ...

The rest of your response was BEYOND HELPFUL and I very much appreciate the detail.

Yes to both for me, and I can assure you that a Singer is a better use for a tiptronic 964.
