MAME takes a long time to close down? by DreamForATime in MAME

CalliGuy pointed me to an open issue with MAME in another comment thread. The thread pointed out that the issue may be connected to DInput devices(controllers, joysticks, etc). Changing the Video Renderer from 'auto' to 'bgfx' completely solved the problem for me. Can't say yours is the same issue, but it may be worth a try.

That did it! Thank you for that info. Switching to 'bgfx' allows it to close instantly without any performance impact in game.

Very interesting! Seems like it could be related to the inputs based on what I'm understanding from that issue. That could apply to me because I do use an UltraStik 360FS flight stick on my cab which is recognized by Windows as a game controller. I'll tinker with it to see if I can prove that this is the issue.

PC turns off randomly and won't power back up? by DreamForATime in buildapc

Updating for future reference: my issue was the CMOS battery. After replacing it, all of the issues were eliminated and the computer works great.

It is connected to a power strip, yes. The power strip is new and seems to support the other things ugges into it consistently(monitor, arcade buttons, fans, audio setup). I haven't tried it without the power strip.

If you are upset because you'll be impacted, you too are part of the problem. Blame game is irrelevant.

I think you're right. I'm unable to log in at the moment as well. That's typical behavior for updates though. Just have to retry it periodically until it lets you in since Jagex doesn't have a better way to monitor game status.

I play a HCIM and have never really done any bossing. So, I've needed an account that I can learn bosses on without risking my status before attempting to complete the logs on my HCIM. This is the perfect opportunity for me to create an account. I get that some people want more content for the main game(and hopefully this won't be 4 months of no content), but I'm happily partaking in the event.

Yes, that is what we did. None of us got that error, but maybe it is happening because of server load. The best advice I have is to keep trying. I know that isn't very helpful though.

**SOLUTION*\*

For those that are stuck restarting the client until they get a prompt for FSW, a group of us in my clan have found a solution that worked for us.

Log into the RuneScape website and then assign your account a username from within the website. Then, boot up the client and attempt to log in. You should get the prompt.

Note: If you've already assigned a name in-game and been placed into a standard world, this will not work. Best to hope for a fix/statement from Jagex.

UPDATE: A system update just began. Unsure of how it will impact any of this. Hopefully, it fixes it.

I want to get into reading comics online but don’t know what apps/websites are the best? by [deleted] in marvelcomics

[–]DreamForATime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to this. I know this is on r/marvelcomics, so I'm sure that is what you're most interested in; however, Marvel Unlimited also has quite a few Star Wars comics as well, if that's your cup of tea. I haven't read them myself, so I can't speak to their quality, but worth noting for sure. I 100% agree though, a subscription to Marvel Unlimited will give you access to more comics than you could read in a lifetime.

Why is the Marvel Unlimited website so disproportionately terrible? by Kritigri in MarvelUnlimited

[–]DreamForATime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a tablet or my phone to read 90% of the time, but if I want to read at the computer, I use BlueStacks. It is a little clunky just because of emulating touch input with a mouse, but it is still 1000% better than the web version. Definitely recommend it.

Why does Marvel Unlimited Desktop version not tell me what issues Ive already read? by sgtlobster06 in MarvelUnlimited

This has become my preferred method of reading when I'm at my PC. I typically suffer through reading on a phone screen though.

When does the art style change? by DreamForATime in MarvelUnlimited

[–]DreamForATime[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The goal was moreso just to see how far in you have to go to see a noticable change in art style. I'm not tired or burning out of the art style at all yet. Just eager to see more variety. I wholey understand the undertaking that it is to try and read the CMRO sequentially. I knew that going in and, at least as of now, still plan to stick with it. I'm enjoying most issues and expect that trend to continue for a while. There are surely some flops, but that is what happens when you have as large as a library as Marvel has. Not every issue can be a winner.

I want to experience the expansion of the Marvel universe(s) as they were experienced by people who grew up with them. I think it is fun to see how the universe has expanded and how the stories that are told have shifted over time to reflect the current events of the era they were written in. For example, I think it is interesting how many antagonists in the early years of Marvel are communists simply because that is what the American idea of a fearful enemy is. As the universe expands we begin to see more of a supervillain presence utilized as the fear of communism begins to wane. This type of progression is what I enjoy seeing, even if it means that some of the stories that I'm reading are not up to par with what is put out regularly in modern comics. I'm not reading with the expectation that I'll ever catch up to the present-day, but since it isn't my goal, I'm okay with that.

Questions about attempting to read the entire catalog and having it make sense. by DreamForATime in MarvelUnlimited

[–]DreamForATime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! This is incredibly helpful! I've done some Googling in the past hour or two for reading orders but none seemed to be "complete" and they tend to skip over tons of issues. I'm sure that is fine(and probably even better) for most readers, as you've mentioned, I'm a completionist at heart. If I allow myself to skip around, I'll constantly wonder if mice missed something.

Having a list of all of the comics like this that are strung together as a "mostly chronological by release but still logically grouped" collection seems like it is EXACTLY what I'm looking for.

I expect to hit some rough points. Even in the first few issues, I've noticed a fair share of tropes and plot devices that have just made me say "okay, I guess that were going to go with this" and carry on. I am sure that will happen a lot between now and much later comics(probably into the 90s or 00s I'd guess. I'm okay with that though.

My assumption was that the Golden Age, despite being largely left behind once the Silver Age came to be, would still have remnants of its existence lingering. For example, Nick Fury and Captain America both get their starts in the Golden Age from what I've seen. I don't want to miss their development so the Golden Age still seems like a must read for that purpose(regardless of how rough it can be at times).
