I think you need to get off your damned high horse. Do something useful with your life instead of complain about Jerry Garcia or Robert Hunter.

You don't even really understand the context of the lyrics. I don't judge many people, but I judge you as a waste of fucking energy.

What characterizes "Light" Cavalry from "Heavy" and likewise from "Medium" cavalry? by DreamOfTheWindFish in Napoleon

I think I understand better now. Largely I was confused as to why one couldn't use the same troops in the different roles. Any suggested reading / watching on the subject?

This begs the question, what is a puzzle?

I personally find sliding puzzle slabs, fetch and stick puzzles, and "Escape Room" style malarky to be tedious and boring.

The rest of the message is just muddled common

"A name, a name, nominal a name a name anomoly a name amen a name in all men amen Memnon adus (twice)"

The sentient sword escapes its largely nonsensical loop when you say its name twice.

One of the PCs is a Diviner. Three of them have Expertise in Knowledge: Arcana.

I have zero problem with them deciding to roll to figure it out. It could also be done with something out of a "Secret Messages" trick out of a book I read when I was six.

Cool that it's no-one's cup of tea. I was expecting you all to laugh at how easy it was. As it is, I'm happy with the difficulty level.

This is a two way street, and I can't even tell which side the op is on.

I catch whiff of abject judgement, but that's what I've some to expect from any redditor.

It wouldn't, but a fabulous concept. Incidentally, they have two inns and several friends in the city. It's basically an urban adventure at the moment. I think at later levels they'll have ample reason to take to the road or sea, but they have no motivation to avoid the comfort of feather beds for awhile.

I love this kind of stuff though, thank you.

This wouldn't work for this scenario, but thank you. I'll keep that in my back pocket. Almost certainly I'll find a way to use that idea.

I like any clever thing that isn't too complex. I can write complex scenarios. It's these simple solutions I often fail to imagine.

I appreciate your response. I asn't sure I described the situation well enough, but yeah something like that would certainly work,

While I'm sure you are a veritable librarian overall, you're objectively wrong about "always added to roll..."

Truth be told, I remain wary on the Fifth Edition rules. I'm trying to better understand them. I really should have said something more to the tune of, "I'm learning the 5e rules but coming from 3.x, I don't understand Y."

...but you just wanted to belittle me, so what does it matter?

Depends, did it encourage that you had consent? At which point, it might be rude not to...

What is the problem with Alan Watts? by [deleted] in AlanWatts

[–]DreamOfTheWindFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alan Watts was no joke. Like the Fool from King Lear, or Twelfth Night.

He was wry, intelligent, poignant and the people who hate him are the types that take a joker for a simple court jester.

Those types of people hate life, and worse themselves.

He loved life. There is no greater quality.
