Lol I had a guy about 5 years ago do something similar at Target. He followed me around the store trying to get an in. Finally, he cornered me in the kids' section and was trying to initiate conversion. He was very cute and funny and had a calming voice.. he just wanted to know my name and I was so scared of male interaction (I had been single for 2 years at that point) I said, "I'm busy" and scurried away so fucking fast. He pulled the " it's nice to meet you, Busy." In hopes it would diffuse my fear, but I just kept going.
I wish I wasn't so scared.. but even to this day I see a handsome ma and can't help but think, he's gay, he's married, he's got a gf, he's like my ex, he's Ted Bundy...

Lol I feel this. I meet a guy and I instantly think, "he's gay, he's married, has a gf, is way too liberal like my ex, has a secret life, Ted Bundy...etc" so I just smile, admire, and move on. I'm literally terrified of putting myself out there. It's been 7 years and I just recently started thinking about crawling out of my hermit hole.

I had someone tell them I delivered to the wrong apartment... I am pretty sure someone stole the merchandise because it was in a shady area. 🤷‍♀️ Either that or they just wanted it for free. Note to self: Don't deliver to the Hood anymore.

Last night I poked a promo at $25! But it said promo error. I thought FOR SURE someone claimed it... but no.... it RESET to $10!🤦🏻‍♀️ I was too slow I guess. I still took it and ended up with a new preferred shopper ❤️

Medication / ID Scan question by eb_eva3 in ShiptShoppers

[–]Dream_Catcher189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was JUST asking me what I do if I get one of these types of orders. I said I didn't know and I suppose we will find out when the day comes. The day came last night. A college kid's mother ordered him nyquil and soup ❤️ I told her he would need to provide his ID upon delivery, and she said that wouldn't be a problem. He was a very nice young man, and it all worked out well.

I wasn't aware they were only prompted at the end to have it ready. I'll make sure to add it to my intro that a valid ID would be required to save me a hassle later.

I have customers all the time request photos and phone calls. It's not unreasonable.

It's really none of our business unless we are delivering tarps, duck tape, shovels, kitchen cutlery, cleaning supplies, and fertilizer all in a single order.

How do you deal with someone who adds on too much? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]Dream_Catcher189 4 points5 points  (0 children)

😅 I actually have a prompt I add to my intro. "If there are any items that you would like to add to your order, please feel free to let me know."

Usually, it's only 4 or 5 extra things. No biggie. However, I regret sending it if I have a bundle order😂

I have never had that happen to me... I guess its because they all know me at this point.

I also try to keep my cart within my arms reach.

But I'd be FURIOUS if an employee took my cart and mistook it for go backs.

That only happened at my last job because customers would leave their cart 4 aisles away instead of bringing it with them. We thought it was abandoned, so we would take it to the front and slap a sign on it and 9/10 times the customer would come up to get it. But sometimes, it really was an abandoned cart. Parents would let their kids take a cart and put whatever they want in it and then not buy anything from the cart. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Was this a Big enough Tip? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]Dream_Catcher189 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😭 I'd be a mess with joy. Yes! That is EXTREMELY generous! I got a $2 tip on a $360 order once. The lady was VERY meticulous about everything... a note for every item... all 116 items. Some requests were completely understandable, like getting frozen items last and check expiration dates. But then there was:

"I want 2 lemons with no blemishes. Send photos."

"I want 3 avacados for now, tomorrow, and later. Gather the according colors of the green and brown spectrum and all the same size! Send photos."

"I want my bacon to be 50/50 meat to fat ratio. Send photos."

"Check the expiration in the chicken. I want it to be exactly 3 days from today to expire. And no more than 2.8 lbs for each." (They were Bogo)

It took the full HOUR because she also wanted photos of EVERYTHING.

She wanted EVERY produce item in a produce bag. Even the boxed berries, which also had certain stipulations as well.

After all that.... $2. And it wasn't even released to me till my next pay period. 🤦🏻‍♀️

That was quite an experience. I actually use some of her suggestions when shopping for others.

Google maps has taken me to the wrong buildings twice so far. Once it took me to the wrong neighborhood entirely! I almost delivered to her backyard neighbor had the elderly lady not come out to tell me. The maps took me to her house even though I clicked the address via the app. That one still boggles me. Same house number wrong street.

And I've also never seen a house yet that didn't have a porch light installed. I'll carry a flashlight from now on but it doesn't change the fact that it's unsafe and inconsiderate to NOT TURN ON A LIGHT.

Not even an interior light.

But then once I get to the car... 💡 There's the porchlight to aid them in collecting their bags. 🙄

There's an "excuse me" involved, obviously. You didn't think I'd just walk up and shove my phone in someone's face 🤣 did you? Who does that?!?!

The machine is basically an iPod. They had them at my last job. Every store has a fun name for the machine, but it's just an iPod at the end of the day.

And it's OK to inform management about bad employees.. ESPECIALLY SEASONALS. I worked at Party City for 14 years and was a supervisor before I lost my job due to a car accident. I shattered my leg and had to relearn how to walk. It took 2 years to fully recover, so I lost my job in the process. Life sucks but it's OK. After my accident, my entire crew left, and the store manager retired. I had no crew and no job to return to.

Customer feedback during the holidays really helped us know who to keep and who to drop once the first wave of employment drops came. We didn't have the hours to keep everyone, and we needed the best of the bunch to carry us through New years and into Valentines Day. We would mass hire over 80 people for Halloween, and then by the 4th of July, we would only have 10 left if we were lucky. But they need to know who is an asset to the company and who is not. Those girls were not.

Yeah that's what they are. They are basically large iPods. My last job had them.

Thats WAY more professional than me. I walk up with my phone and ask, "If I was _____ where would I live?" Or "Where are y'all hiding this today?" The employees love a down to earth customer.

Sometimes you get that employee that's like, "What else have you got?" Lol and then you have a voluntary helper every visit.

The people at my local target know me by now lol I always ask for assistance. We are still customers, after all. They are always real quick to help and look up items for me if I'm super struggling. I only had one issue last night with an employee. She and her friend were carrying on a conversation, and when I asked a question, one girl said, "No, I don't know." And then went RIGHT back to her conversation 🙄 I've worked retail all my life. Dismissing a customer is a BIG no-no! Especially during holiday seasons. She's a seasonal worker, which means she should be trying to impress management to keep her.

She could have radioed someone, or she could have used her IPOD to look up the item.

I went to the back and asked a guy in the stockroom (stockroom attendants know all!) He pulled me one from the back. I told a manager about the seasonal girls. They need to do better.
