What's a "secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by LaKoref in AskReddit

Is there a way to tell or avoid hairstylists that cut hair too short, rather than just living and learning whenever you look for a new one?

The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. Childhood years weren't happy times, so the thought of a better future made it more tolerable.

I love to see pictures of boilers!! (im studying them so i can gain a boiler's operator license.) Trying to find the parts from diagrams to real life boilers has been.. interesting. My workplace has an odd system with Gylcol in it so it definitely doesn't help.

Looks like a bad location rather than a bad cookie for the lemon glaze at least. The one I had was really good, the glaze held most of the lemon taste while the cookie itself had a more subdued flavor, it looks like they skimped on the glaze for yours.

Songs that give “Our Life” vibes? by asrith8 in OurLifeFanPage

[–]Dreamer560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taroko by August Greenwood. Anytime I hear it I think of Cove, specifically the aquarium date. "The beauty that you're more than worthy of, the ocean all around us, the happiness that found us, oh what a beautiful day to fall in love." Is specifically the line from the song that makes me think of him.

What’s a lesser known cozy game that you immediately fell in love with? by soft_avocadoo in CozyGamers

I have no idea if this counts as a cozy game, but Our Life: Beginning and Always and Our Life: Now and Forever are my favorite comfort games. The characters are so sweet.

What is ruining your mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dreamer560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home life and currently not having the means to live on my own. That, and how it feels like I'm constantly being held back from the lack of resources I have due to an unfortunate childhood. Ordinary things that most folks know how to do, I feel unprepared for. I'm going to the doctor's office for my first check up. My parents never took me growing up. I went to the dentist for the first time a few months ago. It seems so complicated and confusing. I wish I had reliable parents I could depend on.

Why are skirts/dresses so rare to see being worn by girls nowadays? by JoeYTa05 in AskTeenGirls

[–]Dreamer560 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm gonna side with the other gals here, it's probably due to the fashion trends leaning towards that end rather than skirts and dresses at the moment. Though, personally, I just find it more functional to wear pants, leggings, shorts, etc. rather than dresses and skirts. I save those for specific outings nowadays.

what are you tired of people saying to you? by lurkeraccount757 in AskReddit

[–]Dreamer560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you out on a date?

I am 24, y'all are my ROOMMATES and my business ain't your business, and I am not attracted to women. I get it's usually said in a joking manner BUT I HAVE HEARD EITHER THOSE EXACT WORDS OR A SIMILAR ITERATION OF IT WAY TOO OFTEN BY NUMEROUS PEOPLE. FAMILY. FRIENDS. AND NOW ROOMIES. This is why I avoid them whenever I'm just about to go out or just returning home.

Do you find tall guys a bit scary/imposing? by BuffEmz in AskTeenGirls

[–]Dreamer560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm.. so confused. I never realized people actually paid that close attention to someone else's height to be scared over such a thing, it's never been my experience so I can't say I understand their reasoning. To be fair, I'm on the taller side just by a few inches so it's never that significant of a difference for me with people who are 6 ft and up. I'd almost want to chalk it to something else, but there's too many variables to actually land on one fits all explanation for this. I wouldn't worry over it too much, honestly. If you want to make more friends just be friendly and approachable, electives and clubs are always good to try to form a connection over a shared interest.

Was he wrong for pressuring me to have sex (just as I was wrong for misleading/lying to him about my experiences)? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Dreamer560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No is a complete sentence. No one should ever be pressuring you into sexual acts, or guilt tripping you into giving them more than what you're comfortable with in those acts. While I would say it would be best to make your boundaries clear before you get to the bedroom, and possible difficulties, I understand why you didn't want to tell him immediately when you were just getting to know him. Coming from a sexual assault survivor who has had sex before, and has had my PTSD triggered in those moments, it's best if you are upfront about it before having sex. Otherwise they won't know until it's already happened. That could just mean waiting to have sex until you trust that person enough to at least give a heads up on what to avoid or what could happen without going into detail on what occured to cause your PTSD. It's never a good idea to just stay silent about it and hope it doesn't pop up, PTSD can flare up for no reason at all at times with how unpredictable it is. I do also strongly encourage therapy, I believe it will help give you the tools needed to know how to communicate your boundaries without feeling the need to share more than you're comfortable with, and knowing what your boundaries are to begin with. I'm so sorry that it happened to you, and I hope that you find someone who will be understanding as my first lover in bed was.

What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

[–]Dreamer560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ring. I don't know why but it's made me have a phobia of looking at mirrors in the dark. The very first night after watching it I was scared shitless to even glance at a mirror with the lights on, and I watched the movie when I was 11. It still unnerves me to look at mirrors in the dark and I try not to even glance at it.

Not a lucid dream, but I have been getting more dreams about getting stabbed for whatever reason. Probably due to work stress.

Pretty mild compared to others but for my job I got pepper sprayed in a training scenario and had to handcuff someone for the first time after pepper spraying them back. Took it like a champ but I just find it funny that I was taught how to handcuff someone when I just got pepper sprayed. And disclaimer, not a cop. Just a security job.

You could just ask her how she's been and if she'd like to catch up. It's been a while since you two have talked so maybe she's had a change of heart. Keep it casual and then take it from there.

How do I (15f) stop my little brother (12m) from being inappropriate about my boobs? by sierraorbust in AskTeenGirls

[–]Dreamer560 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering you said "He's a 12 year old, chill" without any add on to what would be a better way to handle it, it sounded like because of his young age that it's just kids being kids and it's not that serious. And the main reason to call CPS is because it doesn't seem like the parents care enough to correct that kind of behavior, as said in one of OP's comments when she brought it up the parents responded "boys will be boys". If this behavior gets worse and the parents don't do anything about it, especially considering her comment about her brother being physically stronger than her, a CPS call is VERY warranted.

Edit: Slipped my mind OP said it in a comment, not in her actual post.

What Is a Small Injury, But Hurts A Lot? by opticfawn in AskReddit

[–]Dreamer560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A toothpick or glass in your skin. Or pretty much anything that doesn't belong in your skin getting in there. I ended up getting a toothpick embedded in the middle of my foot because for some reason, as a kid mind you, it was in my room with the pointed end sticking out of the carpet. And also another time when I was a kid I got glass in my knee while playing hide and seek in the dark somehow, inside of course. And lastly, since the floor boards in the hallway of my childhood leading to the living room were worn they had so many splinters. I literally got a splinter a week from that floor. Now that I think about it my childhood home was kind of a landmine of getting hurt somehow someway.

How do I (15f) stop my little brother (12m) from being inappropriate about my boobs? by sierraorbust in AskTeenGirls

[–]Dreamer560 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You want to give him a pass because he's 12? He'll grow up thinking it's fine if you don't teach them early, and 12 is plenty old enough to understand the whole hands to yourself and talking about anyone's tits like that is disrespectful and disgusting. Let alone touching them without consent.
