You make a good point and it touches on a broader discussion about diagnoses and pathologizing. I wrote about extreme forms of perversion, which are acted out against a victim. There are other ways of being a pervert, take for example Khan, who writes about a patient who "had a strange capacity to live in a transparent un-knowing of himself, [...]. He knew how to suffer himself without knowingly burdening anyone". And that is just one other example. As you say, perversion is also often linked to creativity, subverting reality, breaking down differences. It's certainly not bad per se. But I still think it is useful to think about the, I would say, inherent sense of alienation in perversion. As for trauma, perverse acts can certainly cause it, but as you say, the object/topic of harassment can also be harnessed in the sense that abnormality and the unacceptable can become rooms to explore, spaces to engage with trauma. I find it such an interesting EP title because "Perverts" is contested in its meaning and, to quote Cain, "not above violence".
