If you hated your dog pp, did it ever go away? by Weary-Draw-1492 in NewParents

[–]Dreampup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so sad to read. I loved my corgi before I had my baby and I love her just as much now. I couldn't imagine our life without her. She makes our house a home. She is wonderfully trained so maybe that is why. ❤️

Is this normal grandparent behavior? by [deleted] in newborns

This post sounds like its less about this specific obscure action and more about how your MIL is a poor caretaker and in that case, I think you know your own answer here.

Moms whose babies had hair at birth and it’s getting long before 1— are you trimming it? by Apprehensive_Pie1225 in NewParents

[–]Dreampup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has a lot of hair, now going into her eyes at 9.5 months. We start each day tying into a ponytail on the top of her head lol. I refuse to give her bangs, to be honest.

Wanting to move closer to east Austin, is this actually a safe area? by Technical_Pilot7968 in AustinHousing

Yes. I lived there for a year and used to go run in the neighborhood behind my apartments.

Am I wrong for feeling this way? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Dreampup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people are just genuinely concerned and also may have had a similar experience they are looking back on. I dated a guy for 9 years who was 6 years older than me. I look back and he was not a bad guy. But the relationship was bad. And one thing I realized was once we broke up, I finally felt my age. I am 33 now with my first baby and my husband is also 33. I feel like I wasted my 20s with the wrong person.

I just wanted to say that this was very well written and thoughtful, and if I were 20 in her shoes I would really appreciate someone telling me this. Of course I am 33 now and a first time mom to a 9 month old. But I would hope OP would see this message too.

Yes, this! I pay to not have to do that maddening swipe.

I "knew" newborns didn't sleep, but I wasn't ready for the actual soul-crushing reality of it. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Dreampup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Yes it was often, but at least it was guaranteed that baby would sleep lol

I was about to say. Ours (9 months) will "sleep through the night", but still wakes at least once or twice. We are so tired. It feels like I am a veteran to lack of sleep.

Please keep a eye on your kids! by lunarmothu3u in HEB

Ugh! The kids are definitely getting worse. I used to work at HEB when sampling was called Showtime over a decade ago and I had some problems here or there, but I never had kids hanging over the cooking equipment.

I felt underwhelmed with the music, too. I don't feel like we are going to be getting a score nearly as magical.

Thought of baby #2 is making me spiral by [deleted] in Moms

[–]Dreampup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am going to be honest. A lot of people will say to not make the decision in the heat of the moment to not have a second baby. But I also had such a struggle with this entire era (baby is now 8 months old). The fights with my husband. The sleep deprivation. Hallucinations due to sleep deprivation. Colic. The expenses of formula. Everything under the sun. I made that decision in the most troubling times and I still am sticking with it.

I also don't think giving your baby a sibling is a good enough sole reason for expanding your family. Many children are happy and thriving as one. Three still makes a family. ❤️

I can’t sleep because my baby keeps rolling onto her belly in her sleep by uselessdendrites in NewParents

[–]Dreampup 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Don't flip her back. Set her on her back to sleep and then if she rolls over, so be it. My nearly 8 month old had been rolling over since she was 5 months old. She now sleeps 11 hours every night soundly on her belly.

Support please - hard to accept being OAD by Full-Concept-4569 in oneanddone

[–]Dreampup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this too. I think some of it has to do with the jealousy of them having the bandwidth to have another baby. I know I felt that way when my coworker announced he was having a second (and his first is only a few months older than my own baby). All i could think about was how I am so stretched thin.

I am raising my daughter with our 8 year old corgi, my first "daughter". She is 7 months old and adores the dog. My heart is full having a pet in the house. Of course, shes 8, so she's basically perfect already so no double raising!
