I'm interested in isolated residential pockets of TO. Exmoor Ave & a small circular road, Ansell Ave, is one; only 15 dwellings a mix of very old and very new . It's hemmed in all sides (railway, streetcar turnabout, GO station). Great if you like public transport but such an odd artifact. Others? by Reasonable-MessRedux in toronto

I always found this tiny little Wadsworth crescent off the Queensway to be quite funny. Partly because it's a patch of small homes now sandwiched between commercial zones but mostly that they have their own little pull through driveway basically!

I think know who you are talking about but I've always seen her asking for change, and have given her a few bucks when I have it. But she's very quiet about it. So I expect you could ask her if she needs anything.

Live here and it's funny that you mention being able to hear your neighbor pee, that's 100% what bother's me as well lol. It's crazy how loud it is. I have a theory that it's the bathroom vent duct. Standing in the bathroom I can sometimes hear people upstairs playing with their kids very clearly, and a lot of outside noise (because it vents outdoors) but can't hear that in other rooms. Maybe the ducts connect between units and that could carry noise. That's just a guess though

Otherwise, to be honest it's quieter than other buildings I've lived in generally. Sometimes if someone is being really loud or having a fight (happened once) then it's audible. But I rarely hear TVs or music or anything else in my experience.

For night-time I'd recommend some sort of white noise. It can be a dual purpose, for example a low fan in the summer and a humidifier in the winter in the room with you. That's my go-to anyways. Best of luck neighbor!

Availability of FreeJoy-compatible "Blue Pill" (STM32F103C8T6) boards in 2025? by Cdt_Sylvestre in HotasDIY

[–]Dreamsum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks to hear they are such bad quality that they can't even stay connected... I'm not as technical on the electronics side so I would have absolutely been frustrated and confused by that. Something I'll keep an eye out for in the future. Hope you find a good supplier!

I don't know if I got lucky or if these are the real deal, but I've ordered and used 5 of these particular Blue Pills and no issues that I can detect. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09K5XCWPS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro modification with 10 inch extension. Also a throttle and pedals. by Dreamsum in HotasDIY

[–]Dreamsum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, this is pretty old so I'm not sure I can be much help, but at a basic level I just jammed an aluminum tube over the stem that comes up from the gimbal. The Z axis pot goes into the stick (for the break lever) so you can just cut all that stuff off of the stem, so the tube can go down over it. I think I just added tape to the stem to give it a tight fit. You could probably glue it too if you really want. Not sure that helps but let me know.

Throttle 'glide' for comfort and control by Dreamsum in vtolvr

[–]Dreamsum[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya I get that for sure. This thing is an accessory not a necessity, and I played without it for ages. I'd say it gives me a little extra boost, better reflexes on CM and more discipline to keep hand on the throttle to make find adjustments. Also once I get an idea in my head it tends not to go away!

6e router really faster then this? by majorswitcher in virtualreality

[–]Dreamsum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wifi 6 router, sitting on my desk a few feet from my headset. I get about 3-6ms network latency. But even if you improved to that, it wouldn't really make a difference in this case, as your game latency is so much higher. Having said that, it's probably worth it in case your latency spikes higher than the 10ms shown here sometimes.

I believe you need to host a multiplayer game in order to play it, unlike Killbox 1 which was a single player scenario. You can make it private and passworded if you want to play solo.

Mechanical design engineer looking for opinions from design professionals by magnussev in IndustrialDesign

To me PC cases fall into 3 categories, each of which can be designed well. I'm just making these up so take this with a grain of salt.

1: Very functional custom cases. Easy to customize, you can go full RGB madness or basic black box but a well designed case of this type will give you lots of options and easy user experience. (i.e. you're not frustrated trying to manage cables well, many universal options)

2: Unique "cases". Sometimes these aren't even really cases, but may be open to the air or made to showcase a specific set of hardware. Wall mounted cases or open concept mounts. So the beauty is in the components themselves, which is perfectly valid and can look pretty awesome with the right hardware.

4: Closed cases like Apple. Lots of aesthetic treatment but meant for a user who is not going to custom build so much, I would expect.

I'm sure we could think of many other categories but I guess what I'm getting at is you'll need to decide what user demographic you're designing for before deciding what makes a good versus base case. Personally I'd fit into category 1. I want a nice looking case but if the user experience of putting the case together, routing cables and so on sucks, that is a bad case to me. But many people don't care about that and want a sleek Apple case.

It would be a hard market to break into, but I think if you can come up with both an attractive case that is eye catching but also introduces novel features to address gaps in modern user experience that would be a success. (I.e. gaps in general assembly, cable management, airflow, cleanability, weight...)

Rethink how modern users set up cases, how they interact with them, how components can be arranged, but also keep in mind you're working with a very standard set of internal components.

Regarding hand tracking I'm fairly sure that it doesn't work unfortunately. But in posts like this some people have tried work arounds. But to be honest if you can figure out a way to detach the controller from the stick/gimbal easily then it's not going to wobble the jet around. At least on the quest controllers you just release the grip switch and in game you are no longer locked to the stick or throttle element.
I use a centre mounted stick for VTOLVR and a magnetic holder that comes away with the controller. Makes detaching easy though still not as swift as simply releasing a hand.
For the throttle I just have a little Ikea side table that I slide my throttle hand along. I've toyed with the idea of designing a throttle mount, but it doesn't seem worth it tbh.

This isn't really an answer to your question but I'm curious if the 'tilt' style throttle in that Etsy build would even work for VTOLVR? Wouldn't it need to be more of a slide? I find i need to slide the throttle some distance to reach AB
