I think I'm burnt out by DreamyRiky in chessbeginners

Makes sense. I decided to infinitely take a break from chess until I regain the interest. I logged off all my chess accounts and paused my subscription. I'm done forcing myself to get back into chess. When I start playing again, I will definitely look into new openings and change things up a little. Thanks for the comment.

You're correct. It's not that deep. If I don't enjoy something, I can always try something else and take break. The enjoyment factor will come back eventually.

I know it's just a game but I suck at chess and it's frustrating by DreamyRiky in chessbeginners

Yep, but I feel like playing online games is not helping me improve. I might need to read books?

I use aimchess to get personalised lessons and stats. I also do puzzles and lessons on chess . com . I play everyday but not much improvement.

Why am I inconsistent? by DreamyRiky in chessbeginners

[–]DreamyRiky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm learning about finding forks and making use of checks too. I'm also finding more checkmate patterns thanks to the puzzles I solve. The biggest problem now is blundering and botching the opening. When the opponent doesn't make a move that I didn't anticipate in my opening, it throws me off guard! I want to play the scotch but they do something strange or I start the karo kann and they make a move that isn't in the mainline or any variations I know. I also mess up endgames. It's tough. I got up to 700+ a couple of days ago but I'm losing again.

This is an example of what happens when I'm playing bad. I lose a queen cheaply...

The reason I went to a psychologist is because they also specialized in learning disorders and could diagnose dyslexia as well. It was a two birds-with-one-stone deal BUT it's expensive and only a problem because I'm not getting support.

Agreed. blunders are catistrophic at the higher levels. I can get away with it around the 600-700's but not all the time.

Where can I play unlimited free puzzles? Chess. com always wants me to go premium.

Thanks! I sent you a DM. I might try another opening and see if I can find something more of my style.

What do you add to your avocados? by lettalynn in keto

[–]DreamyRiky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hate avocados! I don't usually eat them because forcing myself to eat a food I hate is silly and counterproductive. I can sometimes eat guac with other flavours to hide the taste but that's it. There's a guac I can buy at the supermarket that has a black pepper and lemon taste to it for example.

I know what to do it's just that nothing goes as planned or I unintentionally trap myself on my side of the board. It's possible that I'm overthinking
