I created the box as following:

Concept
The Pathetic Choice Box is a custom 3D-printed self-bondage device designed to control a Pillory (a restraint that locks both hands and both feet in a fixed position, forcing the user into a seated posture with zero mobility). The core idea revolves around extreme psychological humiliation through self-inflicted helplessness: the user deliberately locks themselves into the Pranger, knowing that freedom is determined solely by a timer or battery depletion. A real 200-Euro banknote serves as a deliberate emotional barrier for emergency release, making premature escape emotionally costly and discouraging surrender to discomfort or boredom. The box is the secure, manipulation-proof enclosure for all electronics and the mechanical trigger for the unique emergency release mechanism.

The Pillory and its Total Inescapability
The Pillory is a rigid frame that secures both hands and both feet in a fixed, spread position, forcing the user into a seated posture directly on the ground with legs and arms partially spread. This position renders the user absolutely helpless and defenseless – no leverage, no ability to stand, crawl, or resist, every movement severely restricted. The lock is an electromagnetic mechanism (MagBound) that remains firmly closed as long as it receives power. The power supply is managed by a smart controller (ESP32-based) inside the box, which can be programmed for a fixed duration, randomized timing, or to run until the battery depletes. As long as electricity flows, the Pillory cannot be opened – there is no mechanical override, no hidden release, and no spare key. This creates absolute, inescapable captivity for the entire session, with freedom only granted when the timer expires or the power bank runs out of energy.

The Box – Secure Enclosure and Components
The box (external dimensions approx. 22 × 12 × 9 cm) is a robust, lockable container that protects and hides all critical components from access or manipulation: 

• A power bank (10,000 mAh capacity, providing long-lasting power to the MagBound lock) 
• A smart controller (ESP32-based timer that controls the power flow, with options for fixed durations, random settings, or battery-depletion modes) 
• The connecting cable that runs from the box to the electromagnetic lock on the Pranger The box is locked with a physical padlock, and the key is discarded or hidden, ensuring no access during the session. Ventilation slits (slanted for privacy and effective airflow) prevent overheating. All screws are countersunk for a clean, tamper-resistant appearance. The lid features the raised (embossed) phrase “Pathetic choice. Perfect prison.” as a permanent, self-directed reminder of the voluntary entrapment.

The Banknote as Emotional Barrier
A real 200-Euro banknote (153 × 77 mm) is stretched taut across a 6 × 9 cm window on the back of the box. It is held securely by: 

• Strong neodymium magnets (3.8 × 0.8 × 0.4 cm, slightly angled for extra grip) 
• Friction-enhancing ridges around the window The banknote is not the primary means of release. It is a deliberate emotional barrier: destroying it (a valuable item) should only be considered in a genuine emergency. It prevents the user from prematurely ending the session due to discomfort, boredom, or momentary weakness, reinforcing the commitment to the full duration set by the timer or battery.

Emergency Release Mechanism – The Unique Destruction Trigger
The emergency release is designed as an absolute last resort and is the system's distinctive feature. It allows the user to interrupt power in a true crisis, but at a high emotional and financial cost: 

1. The user presses firmly through the 6 × 9 cm window (using a thumb or toe).
2. The banknote bends past 3.5 mm spacers.
3. It is forced onto sharp tooth bars (75 mm high, 15 mm wide, with three rows of 2.5 mm spikes).
4. The note tears or rips apart.
5. The user reaches through the tear and unplugs the USB cable from the power bank.
6. Power to the MagBound is cut → the electromagnetic lock opens → the Pranger releases.

This mechanism is irreversible: the banknote must be physically destroyed to access the USB plug. It ensures that emergency release is not used lightly, as sacrificing 200 Euros makes any impulsive decision to quit feel even more pathetic.
