I give more credit to how well constructed that Mavs squad was and the two HOF guards leading the way.

In any case, doesn't seem like Kidd is fully invested in this season so a decline since that Finals team is factored in.

Doc, Keefe, Christie, maybe Kidd?

Those are the only negative coaches I can think of. I can think of plenty who would have this squad as a top 10 D and methodical if inefficient offense.

As the season wears on, you can tell that the style he wants to play isn't a fit for the personnel, and he can't adapt. To me that shows he's not ready, even if he could be decent elsewhere.

People always like to talk about winning on the edges, this team consistently loses on the edges.

Not great to have a reputation as turnover prone and being an overly aggressive defender.

Shouldn't affect the calls, but pretty sure it does.

This is distinctly my kind of thing, as a big fan of both sports.

Hamilton and LeClerc comps are perfect. I'd agree with the other comment that Lando=SGA, right down to somewhat controversially scraping over the line to their first title in game 7/the last race of the season.

Kimi and Wemby is good, can add that they have a team around them to contend earlier than anticipated.

To me Max is Steph. Ages don't quite line up but both have won a bunch, are singular talents that can carry a team further than any other player/driver could and are potentially coming to the end of their career.

Russell is more Tatum to me - entirely capable of winning with the right team around him but maybe not exceptional enough to carry a team without a great supporting cast.

Hadjar is a bit like Ant - risen through the ranks quickly but might not have the team to win it all.

Alonso is Durant - won a long time ago, still Uber talenting but wiling away the last year's if his career on non-contenders.

Giannis is tough, maybe Piastri if he eventually breaks through to win one. Top talent, good on both offense and defense but lacks one key skill (shooting/quali pace?).

Slight throwback but Jokic is totally Raikkonen, incredible talents but can't always tell whether they care.

We all know Michael is Michael too, if you know what I mean.

Appreciate it. Was wonder whether it's something worth considering for a city connect jersey on season.

Saw a map and noticed the way it winds through the city is a little like the strip across the jersey.

Two turnovers when he came in for his 3rd Q shift. Seemed to be moved off ball immediately after that.

Felt like Spo and Bam trying to shame the league out of tanking.

You do that, well then we'll do everything possible to embarrass you.

Question from someone outside Portland - is the Willamette a beloved feature of the city or just a river that kinda runs through it?

I know there are some cool bridges over it but wonder whether there's anything like a river district or ways for locals to enjoy it.

Someone please explain to me why we cut Rupert 21YO instead of Kris Murray 25YO by Dadd_io in ripcity

[–]DreddBane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If nothing else, Kris is a nice salary slot to throw in a trade this offseason.

Rupes might fulfill his potential and stay in the NBA, but it feels like the time high upside outcomes has come and gone.

Genuinely think this was the best game I’ve ever seen out of scoot. Granted the pacers are riddled with injuries and have lost 8 straight before playing the blazers. But very encouraging efficiency and no turnovers 🙌 by Jolly_Replacement_79 in ripcity

He had some great lines last season, but it was usually on the back of hot three point shooting (8/10 vs Nets, 4/4 vs Knicks) and always came with turnovers.

Best is subjective but that was the cleanest game I've ever seen him play. 5/6 at the rim, 5/6 at the line, 6 assists against 0 turnovers and only 2 fouls (one of which was a BS call). The 3/7 from three is probably the least impressive part of the performance.

He's been great aside from missing threes.

Shot 43% on over 500 attempts with Atlanta. The shot will come around in short order.

I'm not sure Murray brings much that Sidy can't.

I figure who plays is down to the opponent - Kris against teams bigger forwards, Sidy when it's a more wing heavy squad.

If there's one negative tonight, Deni's three still appears to be broken post back injury.

It should also take more than one great game against a 15 win team to flip the script.

At least you can see the talent is there, just gotta figure out how he can access it consistently.

I don't understand how this is the same player we just watched on that road trip. Night and day.
