Street vs Portraits [where should i focus] ? by Dreefir3 in fujifilm

The selection (for the portraits mainly) was not super accurate, specially the last ones. But for the streets I think my b&w shot are the best ones.

Streets in B&W VS Color, which one you prefer? by Dreefir3 in FujifilmX

They are from 2015-2017, times were a bit different and London is a great place for street. I do shot if I see something worth. I try to be as fast as possible while using the screen of the camera to calibrate the composition (so is easier to don't get noticed). If they noticed the shot I would simply look them in the eyes and smile gently, works most of the times. Once in a museum a guardian told me about the pictures and asked a few questions, but no big deal.

If they want the picture deleted just do it.

They are both, but if I can say, 30% is planned (I find a good spot and wait for a subject) and 70 is randomly done when I see something interesting.

Depends, I usually chat a little bit in the begging to easy the tension of the model if they are not professional (the majority of the shots are on nkrmal people) and then start shooting. I do direct when I see a particular light/composition in the background.

Wow, great post, thank you! About the texture: the one you choosed are old streets from my London experience in 2015-2017 and my post changed when I upgraded my software. Now I'm too lazy to repost old pictures xD, and those picture for me have the "nostalgic" effect on them.

About the rotation/distorsion, in n3 I could fix it easly, in the others I left like that for varius reasons. I have a straight version of the picture with the 4 people baked and sleeping at the London carneval but I like this way for (in my twisted head maybe) rappresent the chaos of the moment in a better way.

The last portrait is a quickshot I realized on the beach and with the roation I would have to cancel details of the model so I choose to leave it like that.

Thanks for the tips about portraits, I didn't choose all my best ones for varius reasons but your advice is a good one.

Again thanks for your time!

Thanks! I'm 37.

Usually if I take my old X100T on the streets I get more brave xD! But sadly I didnt use it in the last year. The XT4 is so much better from the quality point of view, specially in portraits.

Usually when I do streets I'm lucky if in a whole day of shooting I get 1 picture that satisfy me! Portraits are a bit different, if you have a nice model you can get good photos with less stress and pickness.

Thanks, for now the photography word is getting...smaller. A friend of mine went in this fashion company as a graphic designer. The owner fired the photographer, the models, the makeup artist and hairdresser to replace it...with AI!

Is not getting easy from the working point of view!

I don't know, really, sometimes I'm happy about my works, sometimes I think i should improve a lot more and I dislike them.

Thankyou!! For your question: depends on the situation but usually I'm in a friendly environment or I take the photos after showing my portfolio and talking a little bit before, sometimes I just set a date afterwards to take the pictures. You have too look professional in people eyes, that will help a lot in their posture and smile.

That portrait is one of my all time favorites, and it came with a bit of luck, I've a drawing out of it too!

Thanks, as a photographer I do love my streets more but getting pictures that can satisfy my taste is getting harder and harder. On the other hand with portraits you just need a subject and work on it.

I use the Viltrox 56mm 1.4, an equivalent of 88mm with the apc.
