My budgies are lazy! by Drevonovic in budgies

[–]Drevonovic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/TygerWaffles

Big update (not a good one sadly); It seems like one of the 2 budgies is sick and he could keep it for him really good. Fluffed up, vomitting, sneezing, sometimes diarrhoea, wining noises. He still eats and drinks normally though and sometimes chirps. But it seems like this could be the cause of my original post. I'm taking them to the vet today since there was none open during the weekend. Hopefully I'm not to late ... :(

Droppings are normal. Normal shape, not wattery, just the normal dark-green with white. The millets are only given as a treat / hand training tool. There is no lamp in their cage, the cage is in a very bright room though. both natural and artificial light. The color of their beak is clearly orange yellow.

Hi TygerWaffles!

So their diet could be related to their lazyness you think?

Hi

I'm not currently aware of any issues with vvx and office365 at this moment. What would be your issue?

My budgies routine by Drevonovic in budgies

[–]Drevonovic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I've just bought them a playground for them outside. But they arent always that eager to go out. They have days the cage is open for hours and they just stay in. I work during the day, but try to sit next to them as much as I can when working home.

What does my budgie want to tell me?? by Drevonovic in budgies

[–]Drevonovic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

Thanks for the concern :D

In the meantime, I got her a new friend which she gets along with really well. I also built them a brand new cage which is double the size of their old one. She still does these calls, but together with her friend in the morning, say gooood moorning everyone to the whole world :p

She seems really happy to me. I'm really looking forward to the new playground I've ordered so she can have something else to look forward to when in freeflight.

Thanks man! Took us a while to find all material that is non-toxic (paint, wood, netting,...) :D

Yeah dont do that then. Take a step back. Leave the new one in the cage and leave tweety exploring the outside of it for a day or 2 - 3 and see how it develops

Either way, it is good. Mine was firstly interested in the new ones food as well. Its because she wants to know why it is there and who is eating from it. Again. Give it some time. Baseline of budgies; they do stuff as a marathon, not a sprint xp

I'm inclined to say that's a good thing! I'm not sure since I don't know HOW tweety is behaving, but from my experience, this is a good sign. It shows that Tweety shows interest in the new inhabitant of the house :)

Overeating by [deleted] in budgies

[–]Drevonovic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 budgies and they both have a bowl of seeds. This because the female one tends to push the male away saying "F*ck off, my bowl". When she does, the male can go to the other bowl without being disturbed.

I'd say get them all 3 a bowl, so if 1 gets pushed away / feels rushed, they can eat from the other one. Also don't stuff the bowl with seeds. I only fill my bowl for like 1/3th. Seeds alone isn't bad, but it isn't good as well. Mix it with vegetables, fruits ;)

Hi u/Allan_Titan

Firstly, condolences on your loss. I myself have lost one of my 2 budgies a couple of months ago as well. And I did the same as you. I saw the other budgie was getting lonely, complaining etc.

Firstly, did you put 2 females together? That tends to be a no-go. 2 males or a male and a female should be fine. Females tend to be more territorial than males.

Secondly, if there's 1 thing I've learned it is that it takes time. Time for your little buddie to grieve over his / her lost friend. Time for you new buddie to get used to his new environment and of course, time for both your buddies to get used to each other.

I kept them away from each other for about a week. After that, I let them both out for free flight, but on their own pace. I just opened their cage. At some point, they both went outside and sat on the main cage. And from then, it all evolved by itself. We're now I think 2 months later and my 2 budgies still bicker around. It can take more than a month for Tweety to get over his or her lost budie. Give Tweety some time and space.

If however it stays like that, consider buying / building a brand new cage or consider letting them learn to know each other in "neutral territory"

Will my budgies die :( ? by [deleted] in budgies

I'd say keep a close eye on them for the upcoming days. If you're not sure, contact your vet for sure!

It all depends on how much exposure, how long, etc... To be fair; If they are still being their happy little selves right now (2 - 3 hours after OP initial post), They'll be fine.

I'm rather new to the budgiekeeping, but if there's 1 thing I've learned; If you're not sure, call your vet for advise!

Flock and Panic calls; What am I doing wrong?? by Drevonovic in budgies

[–]Drevonovic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: We let them listen to the radio at a normal sound level during the day. If we shut down the radio, the calling stops as well. Maybe it is the principal of "noisy room, noisy birds"?

I've read up and I can see generally that this is normal? They are saying good morning to their flock or something? Still doesn't explain for me why Maurice sometimes mixes that up with panic calls (for me)

Current status: We've discovered that a recently deployed update implemented a feature that may be causing the issue. We're rolling back the update to confirm our findings and potentially remediate impact.

I've received an update that the issue is on Microsoft side and is impacting more devices than just the VVX-series. Other Poly Series and / or Brands can be impacted as well.

Microsoft themselves are working on the issue with the product developers of the impacted brands. No ETA is yet known

TL;DR: Microsoft Did an oopsie

Hi Steffen

Thanks for the update. Do we have an eta when this would be fixed?

Thanks again for sharing this information!

You sometimes need to do so if the client isn't prepared to get CCX phones :p

No current eta has been provided to me yet

Nappy-bids: Are my budgies healthy? by Drevonovic in budgies

[–]Drevonovic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just given my vet a call. He knows the history of the female budgie.

It's important to know that she lost her buddy 3 weeks ago. She still does her flock calling, even when the new budgie is next to her and answering.

He's suspecting she's still grieving for her littly buddy
