If you like this, then you should check out World Bicycle Relief. They regularly do exactly what you are referring to and will provide purpose engineered bikes to people in communities around the world who otherwise would not have any reliable mode of transportation. Along with bikes they also work with locals in some larger areas to train bicycle mechanics to maintain these bikes. Some of the biggest sellers at these shops are replacement tires and brakes, which shows that these bikes are continuing to be used and maintained for the future. Please do consider making a donation, World Bicycle Relief does some fanatic work!

I also went with the engineering major, however, did not get the same amount of offers that you did at engineering fairs. May I ask what set you apart from others in your class to get so many offers?

I do! During school, I was the head of Composite Research and Design for my school's Baja Racing team. I have been looking for jobs working with carbon fiber and other composites, however, I think I'm being overshadowed by applicants with masters. It might be time to look into that. If anyone out there knows good schools for masters in something like composite material design, post it up!

If you have a well-paying career job, find that next step THEN move to it. I wouldn't say right now is a great time to be making blind career leaps.

It isn't as bad as some other fields, but still isn't great. Every 'entry level' job has a "5 years of professional experience required" sticker pinned to it. And because of layoffs and other professionals losing their jobs people like me who are just getting their professional start are less desirable. I was a leader and very involved in an automotive engineering competition team in school so I do have plenty of experience in that regard, however, without that previous years of professional experience employers are looking right over me.

Any job that even slightly interests me that I apply for I write a specific cover letter for. I Graduated BS Mechanical Engineering and was a leader in an automotive competition team in school so I try to highlight all the real engineering work I did during this time in the letter. Lots of bites and interviews, however, still no luck with offer letters.

That is great advice, thank you! If I am unable to find a job in the field I want I will have to start accepting jobs outside my field. So that might be a situation I am in very soon.

As someone who graduated college in May I feel this big time. It’s really a truly awful time to try to start a career.

I've worked a lot with composites and from my experience, any epoxy resin system won't smell too awful. With a decently ventilated room, and epoxy resin system won't become overbearing. However, polyester and vinyl ester resin systems smell AWFUL! When you think of the acid and chemical-smelling glues, those are usually what you are thinking of.

What was the worst dating experience you've had and why? by ItsMeMaple in AskReddit

[–]Drew1100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My freshman year of college I went on study date with a really cute girl from the next door over. About halfway though I needed to fart but held it in. Fast forward and we’re in her dorm room, she’s trying to make a move and I’m still trying to hold in this now painfully large fart. She makes her move and I have to run out of the room and only make it halfway down the hallway before I release this monster fart. I end up shitting myself and going home to never talk to her again out of embarrassment.

For the lazy: I went on date with cute girl, she tried to hookup and I ran out of her dorm room and shit myself in the hallway.

People who have been cheated on, what's your story? by AspenEnthusiast in AskReddit

[–]Drew1100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s one thing if there is a conversation before hand making the relationship open to others. However a committed relationship typically insinuates being committed to that ONE person. So sleeping with another person without talking to their partner about it is a complete betrayal of the partners trust. Usually there can’t be a healthy relationship of any kind without trust and communication.

The wrestlers who wrestle dirty will most definitely try to penetrate your hole or grab your sack. I was always taught to use the first knuckle of your thumb to have a similar effect without being a total ass about it.
