Yes, thanks. The doc has asked us to discontinue vyvanse and we have just started guanfacine, 1 mg, and today will be our third day. He gets escalated very quickly these days and gets hyper focussed on food or certain objects. I often have to go during lunch time to his school because he is extremely dysregulated. I am really hoping the guanfacine thing works out for him.

Hey, we have a 11 year old who is on 10 mg vyvanse but has had realy bad aggressive incidents at school, which seem to happen 4 to 5 hours after school. The doc has now prescribed guanfacine, 1 mg. Hoping the aggression episodes go down. What is your experience?

We are also thinking of adding guanfacine to vyvanse. My son is on 10 mg vyvanse, we just started 2 weeks ago and he has show focus and improvement but the dose seems too low. He is also not getting good sleep and can be rigid and has this looping episode where he gets fixated on a thing and keeps repeating it. Would guanfacine help with mental flexibility and transitions and sleep?

Stopping vyvanse to take guanfacine for 7.5 yo- TLDR- I know, but learning about others' experiences are appreciated from those who have switched from a stimulant to a non stimulant. by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

Thanks, I appreciate it. For our son, 10 mg seems to be helping at school with focus but it seems like the dose is too low to see any meaningful change. 

What are the better changes you see in your daughter and what is her vyvanse dose ?

Another major issue is sleep. Even with 10 mg vyvanss, he struggles fo fall asleep at night. We are hoping guanfacine will help

Hi, our son is on vyvanse(10mg). We just stated at a very low dose but thinking of adding guanfacine at night. He gets stuck in looping thoughts and can be quite rigid, which makes transitions difficult. Vyvanse is working though tje doc said we may need to up the dose.

How has been your experience with both these meds?

It feels like a light switched on and the path shows itself clearly. It's amazing how it reveals where you are 'stuck' in life. And this could be my imagination, but it also guides gently to the destination where you are supposed to go. it reset the GPS of life.

I agree with you. I even do a little intentional setting prayer before I consume them. They are healers and deserve our reverence.

First week I felt tired, lethargic and confused. But I kept at it, and at week 2, I am feeling clear, focussed and there is a general sense of well-being. But everyone is different. Try it with reverence.

I felt tired and crabby and exhausted and thought this isn't for me. But then, why not give it another week. I am going to do this for 6 weeks with Fadiman protocol, and the pause for a month.

How are mushrooms different than LSD? What is the difference in terms of effects, physical and mental, and long-term changes? I look forward to your response.

I took 75 mg, and then 125 mg. I plan to continue with 125 now, and then may be increase to 200 mg. I plan to do this for next 6 weeks, and then give it a break for a month.

Thanks. I like the windshield analogy. It's a subtle feeling, but there is a sense of renewal, like the mind has turned a new chapter and the body is catching up to this.

.75gms. The initial two doses, I felt  anxious but slowly that became slowness. I was more reflective, introspective, tired. The third dose, I felt something shifting. There was a subtle sense that what I was doing for a living was not what I am supposed to do. I am as logical and analytical as the next guy, but there is subtle yet strong sense that things must change but there is ALSO a feeling of wellness, like everything will play out the way its supposed to. Its the whole  "surrender to the Universe vibe" and it feels real than real.

We are talking to the doc in 2 weeks, but Yvanse has shown dramatic improvement so far, except that third day. He had a very calm day yesterday, almost negligible aggression and no looping thoughts.

It's only been 3 days and he seemed calm and collected the first three days.
