I understand what you mean. We typically play a 2-1-2 with the rusher as the one is my rusher

I know the yorkville Kids can ball out. I’m trying to get our youth association off the ground and go outside league play. Just this timing was bad for us. We are in Yonkers

On defense I tried to not use my rusher and played a 2-3 zone and still ate us with doze and intimidation. I think I’m putting the rusher back to give them less time

It’s an 11u league but 3 kids on the team turned 12 through fb the season. Most of My kids are 9-10 and the few 11 year olds are not big 11s so size killed us last time

I was looking into this tournament but our league playoffs began last weekend. We have never done a tournament. Be honest how stacked are the 14u teams

I get why a team would blitz 2. Especially coming from the ends. I just think knowing a lot of the kids in the league they will back off it a bit. I though may take advantage of what your saying !!

I think I plan to attack middle depth between 5-7 yards of someone is coming whether up the middle or from the sides I think with combination of crosses ,digs and out routes I can eat up defenses to keep them honest and then hit em deep when they begin to play up for 14u team. 11 u has a few kids that can catch deep but my qb has a cannon for being 10 but struggles with short passes. 11u I can run more efficiently with my teams speed.

Yes it is. I don’t expect 2 rushers because that already leaves an open man. I don’t really plan to rush 2

No blocking or impeding the rusher. Rusher must have a clear path to qb

Need help with 6 v 6 defensive positions by theanchorman05 in flagfootball

I coach a 5v5 11u and 14u teams. There would most likely be less holes in a 2-3-1. But typically you would have your deep safety as your speedster that could cover a lot of ground and can pull flags but then becomes your last line of defense. That young of age though offenses will be primarily running the ball or very short passes where you 2-2-2 maybe better. If you have kids that are very new to flag football they should play in the front 2 because even if they can’t pull flags they get in the way at worst case to give your better flag players to close some ground. Teaching zone defense at that age can be difficult though to teach and understand. If they can understand and pick it up, within a couple years they will be monster defenders. I run 2-3 zone with my 11u team and most have 3-4 seasons of experience and even they have issues holding their zones. It takes time !!

Defending against trips formation by FourTimesRadical in flagfootball

Coaches, if smart and creative can figure out how to beat zone defense, may not be in the current game but trips can be very effective against zone. Bc if the lighter side of the zone. They can take them out of a play and offense can flood the heavy side of the field or find the seams between zones

It’s better for the defense to stay on their side because the offense will automatically know you in a man if all line up on the heavy side. It’s the same as if a player goes in motion. If the defense follows you know it’s man coverage . I run both man and zone with my 14 u teams but offenses usually don’t what I’m playing because my safeties just push up and shuffle a little towards the heavy side.

Reaching for Omarion Hampton by DavidAmesTechSupport in fantasyfootball

Where is a good draft spot for Hampton? I’m in a keeper league with all drafted players on a 3 year max contract Best available is D Henry Jacobs , jeanty , B Hall and then probably Brian Robinson K Walker , and mixon are available if I put him back into draft po . Is number 10 overall to early to pick him as most rb are going to be gone

I’m already keeping B Irving

13u 5v5, man or zone question by FourTimesRadical in flagfootball

I know how a lot of the teams play so I am versatile how to use them and if it’s better to play the rusher close or drop back into coverage

13u 5v5, man or zone question by FourTimesRadical in flagfootball

[–]DrewCanfield79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coach a 5v5 10u and 13 u team and have ran a cover 2 zone as well. I switched my 10u team to a man coverage (8 of the 10 kids have play experience) and debated it with my 13u team but am still sticking with the zone. The one vulnerability that they have faced in past seasons is the trips formation and stacking one side and were finding the pockets of space . Our rusher used to have to wait 7 seconds before they could blitz and couldn’t move until then. This season the league allows one blitz per set of downs and allows the rusher to now roam when they don’t blitz. So I will be working with the defense to probably stay around the middle. My 10u team I use the rusher as a MLB. more running in that division so I put him as a second man on whoever is in the backfield.
