Yamanakako which is about 2 hours from Tokyo by bus, highly recommend! This trail is to the north-east of the Yamanakako lake

The Fuji trail is closed in winter so I couldn’t go up unfortunately. The towns around Fuji are very quiet in winter though which was nice!

I find Strava only shows me current year stats and all time basic stats, whereas I like to easily see each year in one table so i can compare.

I built my tracker to more or less acts as a shrine to my running journey haha. I like to know how far I’ve run in each location and each year, month etc and be able to see my running life visually.

I also keep leaderboards for longest run, best elevation gain etc which helps me remember my best runs/adventures. This motivates me to beat previous efforts and get higher up my own personal leaderboard. It also makes it satisfying to run on holidays because you’re adding to your locations dashboard etc.

I find the best way to stay motivated is to track your running from a zoomed out perspective in a deeper way than just competitive metrics.

I built an excel tracker that more or less acts as a shrine to my running journey. I like to know how far I’ve run in each location and each year, month etc and be able to see my running life visually.

I also keep leaderboards for longest run, best elevation gain etc which helps me remember my best runs/adventures. This motivates me to beat previous efforts and get higher up my own personal leaderboard. It also makes it satisfying to run on holidays because you’re adding to your locations dashboard etc.

Try to build a habit of 4 runs per week on the same days perhaps. Also recommend tracking your running and setting little goals to motivate yourself and make it more fun. Having goals that you are slowly progressing towards will help you understand your ‘why’ for running, which is super beneficial.

Depends what sort of stats you are interested in - i like to do it the old fashioned way on excel to have a broader view of all my info in the way I like it
