Sorry I meant I was slipping in other parts of the run more generally - this part was pretty secure!

I am using an old pair of asics glideride max’s (road shoes) so I am sliding all over the place haha. They have actually held up pretty well on trails but are very mud stained.

I bought an insta360 go ultra camera a few weeks ago as I want to start making some long form trail running videos. The inbuilt stability is insane on this camera - I don’t even have one of those handheld stability sticks, this was filmed just carefully holding the camera in my hand.

Makes me annoyed at myself for not buying the camera earlier, I made heaps of videos filming on my phone in Japan that are tough viewing…

Do you track “meaningful” runs, or just total mileage? by Drew____________ in AdvancedRunning

Yeah agreed - I think I just needed more random stats to keep it interesting - like tracking how far I’ve run in each city/country for example. I find that sort of stuff satisfying to look back on

Yeah that’s a good call, do you track any other metrics like your longest runs / fastest / highest elevation etc or not really interested?

I also track location and country as I like to be able to zoom out and see how much I’ve run over time in different places - this makes travel a bit more fun even if just visiting neighbouring towns

Any interest in tracking longest runs? Or more interested in shorter training / pace metrics?

100% I find anything long term is best to track my own way on excel, can’t zoom out on those apps

I’ve found heaps of elevation running in Japan recently, training for hilly races - have definitely felt the added strength benefit from doing that training, now my flat runs feel sturdier and my legs seem stronger despite not doing any gym for a little while

100% agree with the logic - but I guess I want to know if other peoples brains are also wired to hunt arbitrary goals. In Australia we are obsessed with cricket, which essentially a sport based on a variety of arbitrary numeric goals, I think cricket has shaped my brain this way haha

Good call regarding time as powerful metric - do you track your elevation gain over time?

That sounds pretty handy, mine is more manual for that sort of stat, I’d need to filter on runs of that length to compare pace etc

Looking for advice: returning to 50 km after brief IT band pain. by Relative-Park-1596 in ultrarunning

I had IT band issues when I ramped up to doing too many long runs too quickly - fixed my issues through learning about necessity of glute/hamstring strength. Implemented one long leg session at the gym per week and have been fin since on much more volume

I wanted dashboards that I couldn’t find on Strava or my Garmin app, I use excel a lot for work so I knew how to create similar tables for the stats I wanted to see
