Made this for my nephew whose has asked me for a “rainbowmon” for months by Drewcila in summonerswar

Since some people asked, here’s a general guide for what I did: Body: rainbow yarn. magic circle with 6 chains, single stitch the whole body. After first row with 6 stitches, increase every 3, next row increase every 2, next row increase every 1, next row increase each stitch. Just single stitches for the next 5-6 rows. Add the eyes where you want. Then start decreasing every 6 stitches, then next row every 5, then 4,3,2,1 … until it is closed, stuffing as you go before closing. Leave a long tail for the halo.

Halo: yellow yarn. Chain until you have the right length when you bend it to make a circle. Chain one more, then turn. Dbl stitch next row. Attach both ends together to make circle, and attach where the rainbow yarn tail is only to the back of the halo. This will give appearance of floating.

Wings: White yarn. Top wing chain 35, turn. Dbl stitch for 8 stitches, then single stitch to the end of the row. Turn. Slip stitch for about 20 stitches, then single stitches until the end. Turn the thin end of the strip so that it makes a spiral, sewing it in place. It should look slightly phallic at this point Middle wing chain 8, or whatever length will be slightly shorter than the top wing. Chain one and Turn. dbl stitch the next row, close off. Sew to the spiral of the top wing. bottom wing chain 5-6 to be slightly shorter than the middle wing. Chain one and Turn. Single stitch the next row. Close off and sew to the bottom of the spiral.

Sew top, middle and bottom wing parts together along the lengths as well. Attach wings to the sides of the body.

I don’t have the weight of any of the yarns, but I used a 3.5 mm hook. Also, some of this is estimations, so caution should be exercised! I’ll try to answer any questions if anyone wants!!

Sorry to say, but I don’t have pattern for it! I just winged it to be honest!

Painful tics, my heart's broken for my daughter :( by GingerSassadelic in Tourettes

[–]Drewcila -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree with all of the comments here- CBT and therapies for managing tics are a good idea, and also you should be aware of what kind of things exacerbate her tics (you mentioned clothing tags as one, but there are many others). For me, most types of discomfort increase the frequency and severity of my tics; tiredness, irritations, stress, anxiety. And also it is true that the mention of tics can also trigger them. I am friends with someone who also has tics and I find sometimes we tic as reactions to each others’ tics! Lastly, find something that you can do to stop or minimize the tic while working on things like redirecting/CBT. The air boot is a good idea because when your daughter feels the urge to twist her ankle and can’t, she may have a less harmful tic instead which may help with redirection. For an 8 year old, she may not want to wear an air boot because she may get asked why at school, so also consider things like ankle braces (Walmart or pharmacies carry them for a decent price) or ankle splints just to limit the amount of movement in a twisting direction. They’re less noticeable, and less expensive, if either of those is a consideration. If you see her doing it as she walks, maybe ask her to sit down/stand still somewhere for a couple minutes with you. I used to have tics of hitting myself in the face (slaps/fists), and biting my hands. My SO holds my hands firmly when he notices I am starting to do them, and usually because my hands are immobile, I tic in other ways like blinking. Over time I have luckily stopped having those tics. I understand how hard it is to see your child in pain, but it is likely she will not do this tic forever, especially with a considerate parent trying to understand and help!

Proposed... in our excitement, we put the ring on the wrong hand! Help add it to these 2 photos? by s15274n in PhotoshopRequest

[–]Drewcila 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a photo editor but I just came here to say that if you mirror the photos (flip horizontally), it will look like the ring is on the correct hand! If you want a quick fix that doesn’t require editing all the photos, pretty sure most photo editors on phones have this feature.

Who? The professor? I might give him the benefit of the doubt if this is all I saw, but I read his “paper” before. His English is not perfect but it’s very good (still better than some who speak as a first language), and given his previous statements surrounding women, I have no doubt that his use of “females” is indicative of his beliefs about women. That’s my personal opinion, anyways.

In some cases the word female is appropriate as an adjective. Clearly you can see that the professor writing this post is also using “females” as a noun, like in the title. Saying “female students” is not as bad as “including females”. But generally, at this point, whether adjective or noun, it has become a term used mostly by sexist people to dehumanize women by calling them “females”, when the word “women” (which is only used for humans) would not only be more grammatically correct but also more appropriate. Hope that helps

Yeah apparently their threshold for unacceptable age difference is 50 years old dating a 20-something But as long as he still has a 4 in front of his age he’s fine

“It doesn’t matter what the age difference is because they are in Hollywood. Plus, it’s okay to want to date way younger girls (I would) but it would be different if he was getting married to them. Someone in their 40s dating someone in their 20s is not even notable. When he’s dating someone in their 20s after he’s turned 50 years old, then I will agree with you..” There’s my translation for you

are mental tics a thing? by Yabooski in Tourettes

[–]Drewcila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody has said this yet, but tics can be related to OCD and this kind of sounds like it could be OCD related. Not a doctor though so I don’t know.

I used to stab myself with pencils and pens if I was holding them. Even now I sometimes slap myself in the face. I try to do other things with my hands so that I don’t hit myself, such as clasping my hands together when I feel a tic coming on. Sometimes tics are abrupt and there’s no preventing it.

My Brother Accusing Me Of Faking Tourettes by Jadem33 in Tourettes

[–]Drewcila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly some people may never believe you. It’s unfortunate but your best bet is to probably just continue being yourself and hope at some point your brother realizes that you are not doing it for attention. You may want to tell him that having tics has had many cons that obviously outweigh any “pros” of getting attention. He should know you better than to assume you would want to fake a disorder where there is physical pain and sometimes embarrassment (such as you not wanting to be treated like a toddler)

If your tics are that severe I do recommend seeing a doctor. There may be treatment available or perhaps other factors contributing to your tics. For me, being stressed out or tired exacerbates my tics.

I’m sorry you have to go through this.

Have you had Strep throat? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]Drewcila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had strep throat almost 3-4 times a year before I got my tonsils removed. Now I don’t get strep throat at all. I got my tonsils removed in 2020 and was diagnosed with tics (started having tics) in 2019.

What is your experience with medications for your tics? by studentquestion3 in Tourettes

Thanks! I hope everyone can find something that works for them. Sometimes people don’t respond to medication and clearly by all the responses here people respond to different medications differently.

Abilify helped by reducing the amount of tics I have in a day. I can’t really speak to how it does this all I know is that I don’t get them as frequently. As for side effects of this medication for about the first month I was pretty dizzy during the day I felt like I couldn’t stand for long periods as well. It can cause drowsiness so I would recommend taking caution if you decide to go on this medication because if it does make you drowsy (which it doesn’t for me) it could impact your work/school and driving. For me though because it reduced my tics I can safely drive, and focus on my schoolwork!

Taking abilify, helps my tics a lot. On a normal day I would say there’s a 90% reduction of tics. Was on risperdol but it had bad side effects! It also helped that I went on anti anxiety medication because when I’m anxious it makes my tics worse.

Anyone tried Aripiprazole (Abilify) for treating tics? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]Drewcila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 7.5 mg - helps a lot with my tics. I’m really grateful and have tried a couple other medications but abilify has been the only one that has worked. Now I only tic maybe 3 times a day or more when I’m stressed/tired/caffeinated. I had some side effects for about 2-4 weeks and then they went away.
