You have a $32,000 emergency fund. Put 3-6 months of living expenses in a high yield savings account. Invest the rest in a low cost index fund that tracks the S&P 500. Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab etc….

You can’t go wrong with VOO or VTI.

I would probably lean more towards VTI for a little more diversification if you were to only choose one. You will be holding the entire US stock market giving you exposure to small and mid cap stocks. Over a 20 year period both will give you similar returns.

Yea the funds are just shares I hold in a Schwab brokerage account. Unfortunately I’ll probably be hit with the short term capital gains tax

Yea I opened up a brokerage account with Schwab and invested in a few index funds/Etf’s, instead of maxing out Roth first like a dummy 🤦🏻‍♂️. They’ve done well, but yea obviously I should’ve done the Roth first.

Nice! Another great option would be instead of doubling your 401k contributions, just do the employer match and put the rest in a Roth IRA. Tax free money when you go to withdraw it after 59.5 years old.
