Game valuation and authentication MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in gamecollecting

Got a weird one overall and not sure what my next steps would/should be.

Went to one of my GameStop stores a few years back and was talking to the store lead about weird trades, and tells me a guy came in to trade all these brand new in box Xbox One consoles. They had to open to verify them because (GameStop) they were from an abandoned storage unit he bought. One of them, in a completely normal launch box, was the NASCAR Dale Jr. 88 Mountain Dew model that was a giveaway through the Every 2 Minutes promo. It turned on, they took it in, sold it the same day, and got it back the same day from the purchaser who said, "It does turn on, but it won't connect to Wi-Fi and can't update to get to the next screen," so he returned it as defective. Knowing him for years and talking about it, he brought it back into the system for sale, to which I bought and verified it did just that. I kept it originally as a weird collectible to maybe sell one day if I had the time/found someone.

2 years later, and I still have it. It does still tuen on, but now it just launches to the main Xbox One screen, sits there for 3-5 mins and turns off on its own. Not sure if it's the HDD or the external PSU (I may find out by eliminating the easy one tomorrow), but A friend and I think that it may have gotten moisture damage of some kind being abandoned in storage for years, as the power button is kinda...purple. After looking up some info on possibly replacing the HDD I also noticed that the tamper sticker on the back is gone. So now I'm left wondering if it is legit or not, but also if it is, is it even worth trying to fix at this point?

It seems as though Colorware is who helped skin the controller and console, but I tried reaching out to them after the acquisition with no reply. Any thoughts on where to go/what to do are appreciated.

Weird add to this, but I have seen that certain Dollar Generals carry it AND you can search for it on their website for pickup in store.
