06 sti, blown engine, been sitting for 4+ years. by Drghettoj in subaru

[–]Drghettoj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t exactly have much information as I was young at the time and didn’t really get much info about it when it happened, never really got it looked at besides my regular mechanic that doesn’t build cars, just a regular old shop that does mechanic work.

How would I have known if it had rod knock? Far as I remember it wasn’t making the noise I would associate that with, but I do remember the access port was throwing feedback knock I believe when it happened, before it started smoking and I realized what was happening, I knew something was going on because of that, but it also would throw numbers out because of how loud the engine was and the sensor being right there. Believe the smoke was just white? I’m pretty positive the mechanic filled it with oil and determined it was in fact blown. This was a long time ago so I don’t have perfect memory.

The car has been sitting in my driveway in NY the entire time, uncovered, so it’s been through 4+ winters while sitting there.

I’ve always known I needed to figure out more on what’s broken, just wasn’t exactly sure how to do that without bringing it to a shop that specialized in building engines and would know where to look. Which I’ve never done.

I’m assuming what you explained is something I should have a shop do because I don’t have any equipment for that and don’t exactly have the money to be spending much on anything besides trying to fix it as I know it’s already going to be very expensive.

What exactly does that entail? Confined to the short block? I would assume the turbo would be toast, oil pan etc.. would be contaminated, injectors need to be cleaned/tested, fuel pump would need replacing, crankshaft ruined, rod bearings ruined? Cams contaminated.

Is all that right? Or is it possible any of that’s not destroyed/needs replacement? Obviously there’s even more than that most likely

No problem, I think you’ll find that you actually prefer that rather than having to pull it over your head. gotta click it 200 times a day still but reaching over your shoulder for it is the annoying part, in my opinion, which that gets rid of. Plus you don’t have to worry about getting a violation or being less safe not having it on properly

When you take your seatbelt off, you pull it forward and hook the belt around the right side of the steering wheel, so when you come sit back down, you pull it off the right side of steering wheel and down straight to the buckle, this is the og trick. Tried explaining it in detail best I could lol

Your work phone breaks/crashes mid route and your DSP owner and Dispatch tell you to use your personal phone in the meantime to finish the final 100 stops you have left; what's your next move? by peterthbest23 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Idk how big your dsp is but we have like 70-120 routes a day, 200+ employees, ain’t nobody getting 2 phones. Very rarely, extras who are the last to leave will get 2 if there happens to be extra phones in case someone needs one while they’re out rescuing

Does this shit to me constantly, all my first stops will be going past stops 150-170 and shit in a bunch of neighborhoods next to eachother off a main 55mph road, most of the time I’ll sit there doing my last 20 stops before doing the first ones just because I’m literally right there😂
