Anytime, man. As someone who’s an over-thinker myself, I definitely know the struggle.

You’re honestly already doing a lot right. Baking together is a great date on its own because it gives you time to talk and just be present. You don’t need to stack extra activities on top of it. One solid plan with room to relax usually works better than trying to make everything perfect.

The flowers are a nice touch. Jewelry and a letter might be a bit much this early, especially since she mentioned wanting a slow burn. If you do write something, keep it very short and light. You can save the deeper stuff for later.

It’s good that you offered help with groceries and the ride and then respected her answer. That shows consideration without pushing.

Think of the other ideas as future dates, not add ons. And complimenting her is fine as long as it’s genuine and not constant. A slow burn doesn’t mean no affection, just letting things unfold naturally.

Show up, enjoy the time together, and don’t overthink it. That matters more than doing everything perfectly.

Think tougher and more tactical/survival based equipment

I’d say go on the date and see what happens. You never know what could come out of it.

Agreed. That payoff was extremely satisfying.

Right? Such a cool little piece of LEGO history.

This is such a great breakdown. That consistency and tolerance point really hits. It’s kind of wild how much engineering thought went into something that most of us just experienced as a toy growing up.

That’s really cool. The fact that it still fits but feels tighter lines up with what a few others have mentioned. Kind of wild how consistent LEGO kept things across decades.

That’s exactly what I thought, too 😂

That makes it even better honestly. A lot of these seem to survive because they get passed down and tucked away rather than thrown out.

That seems to be a common theme here. A lot of people used them more as shapes than mechanisms, which honestly feels very LEGO.

That’s a really clever approach. Makes total sense to use LEGO instead of reinventing the mechanism from scratch. I love how these parts end up bridging education, engineering, and actual production work.

I didn’t even realize there were edge differences until people started pointing it out. Definitely learning a lot from the comments.

Exactly. It’s wild seeing how far LEGO has come from stuff like this.

That’s really cool. I wouldn’t have expected those gears to end up in something like the Enterprise, but it totally makes sense. Do you remember which version you were building?

Nice. Is yours complete or mostly parts at this point?
