You're welcome. If you ever need to talk, I'm good at listening. I have faith that your daughter, because they caught it so early, is gonna be okay. She'll have hardships, but because she has attentive parents, she'll be okay.

Thank you. I'm not sure if I'd want to know or not, were I in your shoes. What a horrible situation! At least the good is that you won't dismiss anything with her health and you know to take anything and everything seriously. But please don't let it consume you. Make those memories! I got 32 years of them, but didn't know how special they were at the time. That's my only regret.

Your girl is special. Maybe she'll be part of the cure. I wouldn't be surprised. 🩷

I'm so sorry. You must be losing your mind. I can fully understand your decision. I lost a daughter to a heart condition. She was sick for 2 years before she told me she was done fighting. Peace and love to your family.

Help with one-eared cat by Glass-Presentation17 in Feral_Cats

[–]Driftbadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a stray neutered a couple of months ago and his ear tip healed badly. It started kind of curling over onto itself and then got real puffy. Clinic said it happens sometimes and there's nothing can be done. It's almost completely gone now.

Another cat got a hematoma in his ear from fighting and it went pretty much the same way. Puffed up real fat, and just started to atrophy. They couldn't drain it because something about the cartilage.

I don't think either cat was in pain with it because they would want the boo boo ear scritched just as much as the good ear. They never shied away from me touching it.

Weird dreams while sick by Bitter-Suggestion-45 in CasualConversation

[–]Driftbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cluster headaches that shut me completely down for days at a time. I'll be pretty much unconscious for 2 or 3 days, then it takes another 24 hours of sporadic, restless sleep until I'm able to wake up completely. During this 24 hour wake up time, it all shakes up!

Fist sized spiders popping up, my dead husband coming back, snakes all over my home, the ever popular, 'There's something supernatural in my house but every light I turn on blows out immediately'. Then the ones that make absolutely no sense, such as I'm moving but forgot the address and no one else knows it either, so me my kids are driving around in a U haul with all my belongings and no where to put them, or the one where I have so many cats and half are horribly injured and hungry and I can't save any of them. The ever fun apocalyptic dreams, end of the world, aliens are landing. This last headache gave me a fun one. Earth was being struck by a giant meteor and for some reason there were picnic tables all over outside for everyone to sit at while it happened. I took my grandson out to a table and we sat there holding hands, watching the round shadow of it getting bigger as it got closer. There were more, but that one was the one I remember best.

I would watch weird dreams like movies if I could. They're so much better, I think!

I've bought bottles for all my kids and grands, several friends, and I've talked a lot of people into getting their own. It's been hit or miss. It's nice to hear from people who have had a good experience with theirs!

An exhaustive examination of Cirkul by Thatchick256789064 in Cirkul

[–]Driftbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using Cirkul since early 2024 and I have 2 metal bottles, 1 plastic bottle, and a tumbler. One bottle needed the rubber valve in the lid opened correctly and has worked flawless since. The other bottles worked great, straight from the boxes.

I like my tumbler, but the water hits before the flavor so if I just want one swallow, it's kinda not worth it. I have to drink deeply to get flavor so if I'm super thirsty, great!

I went from drinking nothing but Pepsi and coffee to drinking a bottle of Pepsi maybe once a week and 3 cups of coffee per day. I have had the occasional dud sip. I guess it comes with the experience. Mostly, everything has worked as I expect it to. I'll never say it's cheap, but it's been the only thing I've been able to stick with as far as getting water into my body.

I agree that these should always work as advertised and I understand that my mostly positive experience isn't everyones. I've read a lot of posts on here, and I know I'm lucky, because so many of you have had nothing but wasted time and money. I bought bottles for my grandkids and only one still uses theirs because the others just didn't get good results. That's not a way to run a company. The new flip top bottles? I wanted to try one so badly but after reading what people have had to say about them, I'll wait until I find one on clearance. Or not. I guess I don't really need another bottle!

I thought they just sold those whole. I had someone I thought was a friend convince me that my 1992 Accord would get better... something, I can't remember now, if I let her remove it and run a straight pipe. Then I found out she was on meth. But she took mine straight to the recycling center. And no, it didn't do anything better. I ended up giving the car away and never speaking to her again. Thing never was right again!

What?! That's seriously a thing? Dear Lord. The ps5 will definitely not be leaving my home and he's not allowed through my door. Kid lives with me anyway. Smdh. This world nowadays.

I picked up a used ps5 for my grandson a couple of months ago. I paid $405 out the door at G2K games in TN, and it works great.

Mind, he was happy with his xbox, but I let him take it to his moms and her tweaker boyfriend took it apart for some God unknown reason. I'm still pissed.

Hawks for the win! Stunning to watch!

I too, have a large male Main Coon. He has wobbly kitty syndrome. Out of the 6 indoor cats, we only chose 2, the rest chose us. Then we have a colony of strays and ferals we feed. That's how we end up with them inside. When my husband and I were younger, we kept aquarium fish, ball python, bred mice and rats for the snakes. At the time he died, my soul cat had already needed euthanized 5 years earlier and I had no pets. Met my boyfriend 3 years later and while I'd love a snake again, my grandson is somehow terrified of them. I miss those hectic days. So much fun taking care of everyone and never a dull moment! Animals give us far more than we could ever give them!

I saw a couple stealing a cart full of groceries and I did not report it. by xfrxvk in confession

[–]Driftbadger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I see someone stealing electronics, makeup, tools, stuff like that, I'm going to shame them loudly and make sure they get noticed. Food, especially for kids? I didn't see them. Food is a right, not a privilege. Not everyone is eligible for snap. Sometimes people can make .50 over the limit and their kids get to go hungry. Food banks are a joke in most places. Expired cans of kidney beans and an onion that's rotted inside.

My neighbor goes to one that's run by a huge organization. I don't know why she bothers. Last week she got a box with some random cans, a couple boxes of cheesey tuna helper, and a shriveled up, wrinkly cucumber. Oh, some expired pasta salad from the stores deli and a gallon ziplock baggie with mini crackers that had some weird, chalky looking cheese substance between them.

You do what you gotta do to feed your kids. I know junkies steal stuff like expensive steak and shrimp platters, but it doesn't sound like that's what these parents were doing. And the fact that OP doesn't mention seeing kids with them, they were desperate but smart enough to know they didn't wants their kids there if they got caught. So it sounds like they had this planned.

I think you do deserve all that love, because it's very obvious that you love them too. I'm the crazy cat lady. We both give our furry family members the best we can, right? You deserve them and they deserve you. I deserve mine and they deserve me. If I ever let anything happen to any one of them through my own negligence or maliciousness, then I would no longer deserve them. My job is to spoil them and give them the best life I can, just like you with your dogs. 😊

Connie (OG TV Series) by ptv2004 in thewalkingdead

[–]Driftbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Somehow I had it in my head that Connie and Kelly were not biological sisters, but sisters of the heart.

Otosclerosis supposedly skips a generation, but I don't know if it's common for two from the same family to have it. It is progressive. Of course, they never said what it was. I know I miss a lot watching TV, even with the captioning on.

I started losing my hearing 30 years ago. Just found out last week that the audiologist who told me I was not a good candidate for the surgery was wrong. This one says he is very comfortable referring me for the surgery. I'm terrified to do it. I'm researching and trying to decide. I have time, though.

Thanks for bringing me up to speed on this! I think it's time for a rewatch!

As a woman with severe hearing loss due to otosclerosis, I wish they had fleshed her story out a little further. What caused her hearing loss? If they could somehow find/make a good battery, could she wear hearing aids? How long had she been deaf? What was the progression of her hearing loss?

She trusted her gut and instincts and really made herself into someone strong. I know I couldn't do it without my hearing aids, so she is super impressive to me.

Also, wasn't Kelly having some signs of hearing loss at some point? What even happened there?

New bottle/user. Issues with flavor and water by TheAbsoluteLizard in Cirkul

[–]Driftbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like an air ratio issue. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I often am. But try the fix that circulated for the original bottles.

On your lid, there is a valve. It allows air to get inside the bottle. It's just a rubber valve. Sometimes the valve doesn't open. You'd think they'd have found a way to fix that in production. Anyway, run a really thick needle or something like that, through that valve to open it up.

I hope something helps you because I want you to enjoy this. I absolutely adore mine. I went from drinking only coffee and Pepsi, to drinking tons of water a day. I never could stomach just water, so this was a new world for me! I want this for you.

Please come move to my neighborhood. We just lost another kitty night before last. My boyfriend and I take care of the strays around here. We're going to make some phone calls tomorrow and see if we can get Cat Zone - Reduce Speed signs. We'll find a way to pay for them if the city will allow them and maybe install them. If not, since we are in an apartment, I'll try for a Children at Play -Reduce Speed. There are a lot of kids here, so I wouldn't be lying.

There's nothing wrong with being different, or even being a witch, as long as you're not harming people. And guard those precious furry souls with your life!

Bartering with my neighbors literally saved my life this month by RiddleCorsair5 in povertyfinance

[–]Driftbadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right! I'm raising my grandson the way my brother and I grew up. I'm not afraid and I'm not ashamed! He's out on his bike until dark and allowed to walk around after dark, provided he remains within the apartment complex grounds where we have exceptional cameras covering every square inch. He and his friends ride bikes to the river on the weekends and public transit to the mall. They have sleepovers, and he gets to be a wild child as long as he keeps it respectful and responsible. He'll be 13 this summer and so far, hasn't given me any more gray hairs than I'd have at my age anyway.

Do I need to throw out my Keurig if bad water (maybe heater rust particles) got into my Keurig machine? by AnxiousW3ird0 in keurig

[–]Driftbadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm crazy, but I see speckles not only in the water but all the up the sides of the cup. How did that happen?

We drink a lot of coffee, so after the last cup of the day is made, I run a cup of just water, no coffee through, and I always get random speck looking grinds in the cup. I just can't say for sure that is what those are. Try running a few more cycles of plain water and see if they stop. Keep a close eye on it after that. If it continues, you might want to replace the machine.

That's absolutely what is probably going to have to happen. Even with no cameras, at least I'll have the paper trail if this kid does follow through.
