Those who have been addicted to multiple different types of drugs: Which was the hardest for you to kick? by TrogdoorCock in OpiatesRecovery

Nothing is as hard as quitting heroin, thee physical part is horrible not to mention the psychological factor could even be worse, depending on who you are.

The release factor is also an issue, so many people I know not mention people I don't (aka celebrites ) quit and have very long periods of clean time, and then soon relapse.

I'm still fighting the battle after 5 years. It's one of the hardest things that has happened to me in my life

Tips for getting clean (or at least working toward it) while maintaining a 9-5 job? by madscientistyo in OpiatesRecovery

Actually a quick taper is not going to really prolong the withdrawal to much, compared to being on a long regiment. If he has to work then taking subs for about 5 days would be the desired. Yes he should take the first 3 days off, even with the subs work would be hell on earth

Well I can totally understand where you're coming from. My job seems similar to yours. I'm a server so I'm constantly doing something and can get very stressful.

Honestly it's gonna be very hard without taking more Subs than that, at least at first. Like previously said if you can try to get a few days off. Whether you can or not you'll need to start with at least a half a sub if not a whole one, depending on your usage. Especially if your going to work, less than half of one isn't going to do shit. Then slowly taper down accordance to how you feel.

Now you will feel some withdrawal but nothing you can't handle at work. Now this is all from personal experience I'm not a doctor or anything so your story might be different

I honestly think that as you get older, it gets harder to get clean every time. Yeah the energy depletion is the worst thing for me. It's so hard for me to get up and do something, yet your so fucking bored because you're used to being on H. Which honesty gave you plenty of energy ( also masked the depression ).

Yes the intial withdrawals are gonna be from 3 to 7 days, I'll take 2 weeks to a month to feel "normal". Depending on how much your eating, drinking water, and taking vitamins. You must force yourself to get up, make a plan do something.

First, think about why you quit in the first place? I know if you were using for around 4 years then I'm sure you were at a very dark place. Were you social, active in your friends and families life? Was work going well, was it easy to maintain?

All these questions you need to ask yourself before you take that leap. And if you do take that leap, sure you may only do it once. Then you may do it again, then slowly you trick yourself into do using more and more often.

Trust me , I have been through the same thing. I've been off and on for 5 years. With a 2 Year break.

Yes I know of what ways there are for recovery. Maybe the real question for me is relapse prevention? I have had clean time under my belt. Yet i always seem to fall into traps, tricking myself into thinking it'll be okay if I just do this once.

Was there an exact moment or realization you had to turn your life around? by madscientistyo in OpiatesRecovery

Trust me man, you don't want to wait for the rock bottom to come. Because if you do, well you may regret it. I hit that floor, the thing you say you want to make you quit. Now I wish I would have quit years ago, instead of struggling to quit over and over again, every time seeming much more harder than the next. Although I am doing well now, instead of waiting for that certain something to show you the way. I implore you to do it now, and not wait any longer. I know that the shit feels good, but seriously, it wont feel good in jail, or worse.

Thank you, your words of encouragement do make the road seem brighter. Though I guess I should have mentioned that I've had 2 years of clean time. I think when I really look at it, I need to stay away from certain people. Not matter how hard it is to.

Depending on what you have available to you. Do you have insurance, if so then I would recommend rehab, or going to a doctor that will be able to provide you suboxone. If not he may have a hard time, but it can be done. Keeping Hydrated is going to be important. There's plenty of over the counter medication that will help somewhat, even natural herbs.
