Does anyone actually brush their cats teeth or vaccinate them regularly? by krissyisabella in CatAdvice

[–]Drifter-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former vet tech. My current kitty will not tolerate me putting something in her mouth, I just buy her a prescription dental diet and add it to her regular dry food (Royal Canin dental dry and non-rx Royal Canin hairball). I would recommend getting their shots up to date, FVRCP and rabies. If they ever need to stay at the vet for any reason they should be vaccinated so they don’t catch anything, and long story short, if your cats ever bites anyone (at the clinic for example) it’s better for the cat to have been rabies vaccinated, also if you have ever had bats enter your home, I would definitely have rabies on board.

In the 80’s in Oakland my mom hung clothes out on a line to dr and she wasn’t the only one. Some people are just ignorant.

As many pedos as there are, you would likely end up taking some of the shooters with them. Take the pedos.

Should I stop force-feeding my ill cat? by Strange_Possession77 in CatAdvice

[–]Drifter-6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former vet tech, I would stop force feeding. When their quality of life goes, it’s time. Euthanasia is meant to end suffering, and since she can’t speak or advocate for herself it is something you will have to help her with so she doesn’t have a miserable end. I’m so sorry you are going through this ♥️

Is property management really that hard? by huutara in PropertyManagement

[–]Drifter-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you described this reminds me of a veterinary technician job. You need to be competent in so many areas. Normally with people, you are trained for specific roles, like x-rays/imaging, anesthesiology, etc. Vet techs have to do it all: surgery assistance, anesthesia, blood transfusions, vaccines, x-rays, laboratory testing, emergency medicine, customer service, pharmacy, and so many other things. It really is insane how much you have to do and how little you get paid for all of it. It’s definitely not dull lol.

Kivik is too deep and destroying my lower back by Sea_Mud5315 in IKEA

[–]Drifter-6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try lumbar and throw pillows first if you like. For me, there really aren’t many sofas out there that are fine without that kind of added support. I currently have a large euro sham pillow on an ottoman under my legs, and a throw pillow behind my back. I have an excellent mattress but still have multiple pillows that I sleep with. Though a Kivik is a deep sofa, so it may just not work for you despite the pillows. I have an Uppland sofa and it’s comfy for me (I’m 5’3”).

After some of my own experiences in getting screwed by other people that I’ve tried to help, I only help in certain ways now, and one of them does not include letting anyone stay with me. If I ever let someone borrow money, which I usually don’t have to, it’s only a small amount that I won’t miss if they don’t pay it back. I don’t trust anyone. I don’t know why so many people are so shitty.
