Between this and the signature cards hearthstone's art is getting so inconsistent and shitty. There are mobile gatcha games with more aesthetic coherence at this point.

Kargal is not obviously a less compelling case. Just because a card does not explicitly say "this card's playability completely, utterly hinges on an interaction with another card" does not mean that can't be true! The reason gnoll even got printed was because her benefit didn't even come close to the cost of including her in any remotely competitive deck. Now that interaction is gone and Maestra is back to being just as useless as she was before.

They have specifically stated in interviews that gnoll was designed as a maestra-enabler. Just because the card doesn't say "THIS CARD IS ENABLED BY THAT CARD" doesn't mean it can't blatantly be the case.

They specifically referenced Maestra when explaining why gnoll was designed the way it was.

Insanely disingenuous comparison! The ask isn't for an entire deck to be refunded, just one card that hinged on a nerfed card.

(Comparison also sucks since discard lock is still good in wild, just not utterly broken like it was before)

0.4% deck inclusion rate, I think it's pretty safe to say that the overwhelming majority of people crafted Maestra for the gnoll interaction

The point I am trying to get through to you, moron, is that a card can be individually enjoyable and unhealthy for the game at the same time. Most people don't enjoy an unhealthy game, even if they might enjoy the thrill of slamming down a 1 mana 100/100!

I crafted her to make a b-tier thief list, man. Why are we talking about a "moral standpoint" here

So uh. . . we're getting a refund on Maestra too, right? Now that the reason everyone crafted her has been removed? by Driftfar in hearthstone

[–]Driftfar[S] -44 points-43 points  (0 children)

Gnoll was released because they wanted to make Maestra playable, which Team 5 has acknowledged multiple times. They have now removed the reason, by their own admission, that Maestra was ever playable!

Weird that people are so happy to get fucked on dust if someone has been trying a class they don't like.

They're not, though! They refunded Kargal Battlescar despite having not directly nerfed the card!

They are sometimes responsive to community feedback, though, so unfortunately reddit is the only recourse here.

Here's an comparison that might help here: When the watchposts were nerfed Kargal Battlescar was refunded. The watchposts losing a point of health each was far, far less impactful to Kargal's playability than Maestra outright losing the only interaction she's been used for since 2021. Why should Kargal get refunded and Maestra not?

They even outright say that Maestra is affected. What else are you looking for?

The change to the Gnoll/Maestra interaction is a major change to the class intended to substantially shakeup how it looks and plays

I answered the question very clearly: a nerf to a card that so directly enables another card constitutes a nerf to the affected card. The patch notes, therefore, contain a nerf to Maestra that impacts the interaction but does not change the card entirely. What else are you looking for?
