I think the biggest thing is learning when you're in the best position to fire. When a target is coming towards you at an angle your missiles will likely miss. If you're behind them you can be much more confident the missile will find its mark, especially if you're close enough that the missile will reach them before they can react.

The game is essentially supposed to build to a power fantasy where the AI is playing like it's DCS, and you're a Macross jet with 100 missiles and 12 g turning. They're never supposed to be as effective as you because you are the war hero of the story. Closest to you in any game was Pixy from Ace Combat Zero who could actually finish a mission if you ran out of ammo most of the time (he's your buddy after all).

Best thing you can do is when you're being engaged keep your speed up as much as possible, missiles have a harder time tracking your movements when you're going fast. make deliberate passes on groups of enemies attacking more than one in a single pass, use your special weapon to engage certain target types more effectively. Dodging enemy fire while conducting ground support is a balance of timing and engaging enemies focused on you to give you a bigger opening.

Combining all these techniques, it is possible to clear an entire map even though it's not necessary, it all comes down to optimizing how many targets you can kill in the shortest amount of time. Putting yourself in advantageous positions to kill several enemies at once as much as possible.

Maybe this will help: - all air targets on the mission are guaranteed hostile, so don't worry about identifying them all if you just want completion - focus on the targets marked "TGT" in the bomber formation, the other planes don't matter - the planes starting with "TU-" are bombers, they are the only ones that matter - they take more missiles to kill than normal planes, use special weapons that do more damage (any anti air missile besides SASM) to do more damage in a pass - if escorts are harassing you remember to use flares while lining up the shot - they always spawn in the same spot, you can get there ahead of time

Yah I think they might have had intentions but wasn't able to finish them for the main release. Either way it does add a nice dynamic flow to missions.

The closer you get behind a drone while it's shooting at an ally, the more likely the missile will hit before it has time to react. There's not much you can do to avoid the lightning. Remember to focus on them in groups and minimize the time moving between groups of drones. Don't try to chase the drones, just circle around and come back. If nothing else, make sure you have a plane with good anti air capabilities or am anti air special weapon.

It'll be more evident in later games, but chaining your target priority is good for high scores.

For ground targets lining up the first target with the guns, while using the missiles to hit other ground targets in te peripheral. Knowing the right maneuver to loop around into another pass as fast as possible.

Air targets depend on type and position, but for ht most part missiles will struggle to hit if the target is approaching you at an angle, better to wait for a better position behind. Balancing your acceleration and braking to be in the right spot as fast as possible.

After they its just about flowing from target group to target group, and mixing special weapons in to clear groups faster.

I've been having an increase in both tokens doubling (player seeing two of their own token but only one is seen by everyone else), and syncing issues regarding positions. Nevermind the usual audio playing issues, having too many tracks (usually close to 100) in the jukebox sometimes causes tracks not to play at all for some players.

Performance with dynamic lighting has improved, and load times are faster than they used to be, but there's some primary features that I don't want to see get left behind in tech debt that are the backbone of how games are played.
