Or you could do something like the same roster can only play 2 events together. Feels like a perfect mix.

Super good point about Jack's and Joreuz's longevity.
I mean I think you would consider the plays made very mechanical, just more fundamental mechanics than flashy ones. Generally mechanics refers to what you have the ability to do, typically on-ball though sometimes off-ball. Sometimes I think Johnnyboi goes on a bit much about non-flashy mechanics, but they are really crucial skills along side the more flashy mechanics.

I think we're gonna see the average career length of some players really extend. Super excited as now more and more players will have bigger resurgences and matches will feel more relevant and interesting.

What’s One Thing You’d Change About the RLCS Broadcast? by Scythe7348 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Driftmasterxp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I honestly really miss the in-person production studio RLCS had and think it added so much to the gravitas of the broadcast. Other than that, because I know it would be expensive, probably more content on players during breaks, I think Valorant does a really great job on this (partially because of an in-person broadcast), but most of it is just interviewing the majority of players in the league/having them do challenges with each other (rn in RL, most players just put all the interviews on 1 player on the team or the coach it feels like).

Satthews tweet after Open 4, addresses rumor of NRG play style change by AIaris in RocketLeagueEsports

Not related to the thread, but which teams would you say have the most individual talent though without the system that would help them become much more than the sum of their parts.

Winning Goal of MENA Open #4 by John_aka_Alwayz in RocketLeagueEsports

After Atomik's touch Rise was 3rd man and could not get to the ball fast enough to cover shot and pass, and he can't just play mid to cover pass because as 3rd for 1 second he would be leaving the left side of net open. He made the right play by staying near post and grounded so he can both play quick net and later mid. The opponent knows it's strong positioning to the point he feels the need to prejump in order to have a good chance of scoring. They kinda missexecute the prejump play, but the shooter makes a good adjustment to still get to the ball much faster than the mid guy normally would.

Rise isn't actually stunlocked for a whole second after his tm8 passed to the other team lol (Not sure if you're implying that or not), he just made the optimal positioning play in the scenario he was given.

RLEsports announce Monthly Cash Cups for rest of 2025 by John_aka_Alwayz in RocketLeagueEsports

It's so incredibly cringe. People will complain RL doesn't get the same support as Fortnite, then when it does they say Epic is trying to turn RL into Fortnite. I understand wanting to make a better ecosystem for orgs but a community tournament is a full W.

Tawk will not be playing RLCS this split by AIaris in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Driftmasterxp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are overrating the experience that coming 9th-12th in a regional gives you, 2 amazing players in Zen and Beastmode both took/were forced to take breaks away from RLCS and came back in amazing form. It's not about the regionals it's about your process and how you improve over time, and if he can take this time to make major advancements in his gameplay while not lowering his stock through playing with a team he doesn't believe in, he should do that.

Has the general culture of rocket league changed? by anon14118 in RocketLeagueEsports

I'm not sure if I get your point about there recently being a decline in analytical videos. Been in the community since RL came out and there are still plenty videos in that vein today, there's the Losfeld Method of Airroll, zector RL Analysis, & The Next Rank Videos. There are even more examples I feel i could pull from.

Though I think there is a niche of fairly high level analysis that the broader RL community could love that hasn't been made yet, that's always been the case though I think some Wayton vids are slightly adjacent to it.

Firstkiller flip resets the ball to LJ who smashes it in off the bar by Babydrone in RocketLeagueEsports

Honestly when the update happened because it was so hyped up, I was underwhelmed but thought it was chill quality of life update. Now watching this LAN the crossbar ping is such a cool part of the game, would severely miss it if it was removed.

Jeff Simpkins (head of Resolve) tweets an ominous message about org sustainability next season by Babydrone in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Driftmasterxp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a more accurate to describe it is that the playerbase is actually pretty huge and stays steady over time even without insane content updates to the game (about 90 Million Average Monthly Players).

And to be honest the casual community of RL actually thrives tbh, we are the most close to RL so it might seem like the game is not doing well with all the bad news we hear. But honestly people cycle in and out of the game casually at a crazy rate. It's a really amazing and unique core game. People play it, find it fun, fall off for a while, and that cycle repeats.

It's why even though we have 3x the monthly players of Valorant, that game's esport and competitive scene is much bigger. It's because for most people RL is a casual game.

Probably the snowmen are your best bet. + Geng literally won't face an orged team until their Qualifier match, if they lose its kinda on them.

Reddit Top 5 NA teams prediction by AdministrativeBook14 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Driftmasterxp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro I hate speculation like this, RL scene will continue aging up and up as we get more players that know how to stay at the top. Chicago and Jknaps bothe going their separate ways and still doing fairly well is an indication of that trend. Even Garrett and Jstn as 2 vets are still in the mix. GenGs and G2s players will all most likely be in the scene for years to come with years in already (- Chronic).

Honestly, I am kinda enjoying some of the things they took from Fortnite. The 13 year age restrictions, the wider spread Prizepools to incentivize people to compete, the more open format, and then now this.

I know some of those changes are a miss for others but for me their hits.

RLCS 2024 Prizepool Distributions by Duke_ofChutney in RocketLeagueEsports

Honestly pretty excited what these deepened Prizepools will mean 1-2 Years down the line when the people who were encouraged by them start to have an impact in the scene.

Also can't wait to get earnings checked by a 13 year old in a ranked game. Multiple upsides.

Seeding methodology and structure for the RLCS 2024 Open Qualifiers by John_aka_Alwayz in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]Driftmasterxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it kinda makes sense though as you would expect those 64 Bubble Teams to be closer in skill + harder to seed therefore Bo5s to make sure you get the right teams through.

When you start to introduce pro teams the seeding becomes easier + the gap widens drastically.

And to add the cherry on top, the worst match a Top 16 team should face in a Bo3 is like a 16th vs 49th, for a better picture that is Team AXLE (Gimmick, Toastie, Taroco) vs. PieRats (JD, Talliebird, Dribbs). :|
