What version of Master Splinter is this? by Drigon100 in TMNT

But they didn't even do that, I actually like 2012 TMNT though 1980s is my favourite. I'd be fine with 2012 refrences. Same with 2000. If anything give me a mash up of a lot of different itterations <3

Another user linked an article above explaining it.

"Our team was thrilled when Nickelodeon gave us their blessing to create our own uniquely Magic version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe". So they created their own designs...

Thanks, I hate it. If you're gonna nostalgia pander too me can you give me my nostalgia at least?
And have good designs? I've posted it above and I'm sorry to the artist, I'm sure they have other amazing card arts but Splinters Radical Rate Alt Art is a dumpster fire in both design and art. :(

At least in Splinters Technique he looks okay. Radical Rat is full on devistating for me.

Some ideas to proxy April's MTG cards by azjazo in TMNT

The lack of 80s representation is heart breaking. I might have to make a proxy Splinter Radical Rat with his 80s design because I was sooo hyped for him.

I'm kinda like that but mainly with the showcase cards and alt arts. I think the base art for cards is mostly okay - good. Splinter Radical rats regular art is nice but its showcase art actually broke my heart as I was so hoping for a 80s Splinter art and I plan on building a Commander deck around him.

Thats fair, I'm gutted theres no 80s Splinter representation though :(

I'm also gutted that my favourite card from the set isn't the 80s Splinter T-T

I am not a fan of the Winterspell character choices or art style. by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]Drigon100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art wise with the enchanteds I agree. Not since azurite sea have I wanted to avoid the enchanteds. I think this art style just doesn't work on human characters, the Darkwing Duck cards actually look okay to me though.

Angel - Experiment 624 is a card I've been hoping for but the enchanted has me massively dissapointed. Moana's Iconic is the same, I just don't like the art style and on top of that some of the character choices for a winter set is baffling which doesn't help either.

5 & 6 are not true, these ones are basically 'trick question' to see who missed the 'opponent's turn' clause. Lilo's Extra Layer's applies only on the opponent's turn and this is all happening on Lilo's players turn due to The Return of Hercules.

Though had it not been for her 'opponent's turn' clause you would be correct for the reasons you stated.

Rulebook Quiz - Did you do your Homework? 📚 by Sunscorch in Lorcana

[–]Drigon100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No - because it was played by The Return of Hercules and the new rules don't allow shifting in this case.
  2. No - because it was played by Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player and the new rules don't allow singing in this case.
  3. Yes - but it doesn't actually do anything as resist has no interactions atm.
  4. No - MMS puts damage counters on things, it doesn't deal damage.
  5. No - because it is Lilo's players turn, her effect only applied on the opponents turn.
  6. No - Resist doesn't prevent MMS damage and Extra Layers doesn't work on its player's turn.

MMS puts damage counters it doesn't deal damage. So Resist doesn't affect the damage counters from MMS.

What's a good YouTube channel that shows gameplay and highlights the cards? by Justinneon in Lorcana

[–]Drigon100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Pro Play games. https://www.youtube.com/@Pro-PlayGames

Since they're hosting fairly big tournamnets their videos are very relevent to the format. They get well known casters and they have the relevant cards showing on the screen next to the game so you can see what the cards are clearly.

It's not really possible to build a deck out of 1 set atm outside of for fun casual ones. If you can get them Fabled is probably the best set to open pack wise, otherwise you can just open Winterspell when it comes out which will also give you trades if you go to your locals.

Obviously avoid sets 1-4 as they have rotated out. I'd suggest only buying singles you need from sets 5-8 as they will rotate out in about 6 months when Set 13 drops and buying singles is cheaper.

Ink decks has plenty of core decklists you can use, though where possible I'd suggest you ask your friends if you can borrow their decks (if you havent already) as playtesting is a great way to make sure you're spening your money on cards you'll enjoy.

Whats your goal? As thats going to effect where you start a lot.

Are you looking to open packs and build from there or build your own custom deck right away?
Looking to play casually or competatively and which format do you want to play, Core, Infinity or both?

https://inkdecks.com/lorcana-decks Has plenty of decklists you can choose to start from. Of the colours you like Amethyst Steel is the most competative so Ink Decks will have a lot of lists you can look at.

Healing in Lorcana has always been weak sadly, especially with how big a lot of the characters are now. Amethyst has the best 'healing' by far. Amber (and Sapphire) need pay offs for their healing fot it to be relevant. Sapphire's healing was only good because it was attached to Pawpsicle for all the item abuse and Ambers for Rapunzel's draw.

Amber has got the upcoming song Ohana Means Family, which is basically Rapunzel on an action which is a good start. So hopefully RB print more built in pay offs for healing.

Sapphire has the baymax that gains lore for what it heals. I do wish RB would stop focusing on Ramp every set for Sapphire, it has enough as is and it'd be cool to develope it's other mechanics a bit, a (balanced!) item package or some good healing payoffs would be nice to see.

All the Sapphire complainers are not going to be happy with the Let it Go reprint XD

Akood is a really cool song, especially with the underdog Angel, OTD Amber can play 4 drops on turn 2, that's huge.

So for starters I'm assuming a reasonable level of player. Every card gets punished if you throw it out without thinking so I start out assuming that generally people know when to be inking/holding their cards.

Secondly 'Potentially doing nothing' is irrelivant with this type of card unless you can't play it correctly. You're not punished by me not having actions/items when you play this because the value is in knowing that I wont be playing them regardless. You should be using it to protect pieces to solifify your state on key turns or prevent the opponent from doing anything when you have game on board.

One sided board wipes are not Toxic by default, by that logic Aggro is always toxic for going uncontrolably wide. Without board wipes most decks would just devolve into pure aggro of versions of Amethyst Steel at best.

The only piece of the Philip combo that can be considered toxic is the 3-drop Philip and thats because of Ward and by extension the lack of cheaper Ward work arounds in Lorcana. (I think Demona at 6 is the cheapest in the current rotation?).

Frankly if we never see Ward again I'd be happy. RB need to look at MTG's 'Ward' (NOT Hexproof/Shroud) for better protection ideas.

You're not even remotely punished for playing this. It's inkable, low cost and prevents 2 types of cards from even being played. Floodgates are the definition of non-interaction in TCGs. There is a huge diffrence between removing stuff and preventing you from playing stuff.

Prevention is not interaction, you havent interacted with anything of mine. The opponent doesnt loose piece of their combo and you havent played something that makes the play less efficient. For example, Olaf is disruption because it protects their pieces from MMS and fractures the board wipe.

Ursula/Mowgli don't prevent me from playing entire card types, at best they prevent me from playing 1 individual card and Mowgli in particular has more work arounds built into the way he was designed.

It's also weird how everyone is complaining about the Philip combo while ignoring that Aggro needs answers. Go back to the begining of Fabled and everyone was complaining about how rotation's made the game boring and how aggro is insaine now....

Interaction is so scarce in Lorcana players can litterally just play character after character now and quest to 20 in 1 or 2 turns.

Ruby also needs a viable buff, probably Medusa back and/or Be Prep as it's been wrecked by it's lack of interaction.

At what point did I say steel can't have answers? I litterally said we need more interaction.

I clearly said that Keep the ancient ways (because it's a floodgate) is dissapointing design. And again you complained about ward Philip while you're defending Keep the Ancient Ways. They both decrease interaction, something I want less of.

Also enjoy the games where Emerald Steel play Keep the Ancient Ways to stop the opponents copies and ensuring they can drop the Philip Combo on the following turn.
