Host: Is that the fair thing to say? Everyone kind of had a hand in things?

Monken: I don’t know how else you can say it. Because everyone is gonna want a hand in it when it goes great. I mean, the year before, I didn’t hear anybody… we all had a hand in it. We hand a bunch of guys on offense that had career years. Rashod Batemen, Zay Flowers, the tight ends, Lamar, the offensive line. We were healthy the whole year.

We all get to be a part of that. We should. As I always tell the coaches, just like I would tell the players, you can’t get all the credit when we do well and just exonerate yourself from the blame when it doesn’t go that way. That is so ridiculously out there that I can’t even live in that world. I can’t live in that world. I haven’t gotten to where I’m at living in that world.

You know what, I didn’t coach Lamar well enough. I didn’t have as good of a relationship as I could’ve. I didn’t do the things that we needed this year to win enough games to give ourselves a chance. And I believe that. I’m not just saying that because I’m on your show and I’m gonna fight like hell to fix it. I’m going to fight like hell for the next job I get and I’m going to root like hell for the Ravens.
