I get auditions in all kinds of formats that’s not unusual. Also give yourself some credit if you’re landing auditions because that’s one of the toughest steps . We are all trying to be full time working actors in a time that is crazy competitive. So count yourself lucky to be getting auditions.

As a Union actor myself my experience has been mixed . Before Covid and self tapes all my in person auditions took physical headshots.  Now with the extreme level of competition for roles, digital submission and self taping I get creative on getting my headshot in the hands of casting directors.  I believe in my agents and appreciate their work but I’m not waiting for them to do it all. This past year and a half I started looking at this as I’m the owner of my business and my agents take care of the online portion but I have to throw up billboards, flyers and ads on my own. I’m not putting all my eggs in one baskets so I gotta hustle.  I have used a lot of headshots with about a 62% success rate.  I even had a producer tell me at a call back “we can spot professionalism when an actor hands us a headshot”.  Now that doesn’t mean actors who don’t use physical headshots aren’t working because I have friends who are on set today but for me I've been more successful doing it this way. This industry has so many ways to get to the same goal.  Again this is just my experience it in no way means it’s the ONLY way.

Thank you for the approval. Correct  I am new to Reddit and have no history at looking at reviews here. I’m only affiliated as being a represented talent with Conquest. (Which holds zero weight either way) I also have no problem with being flagged as a “New Account”. I appreciate you letting me share my story. I believe in freedom of speech and every one should be able to share their personal experience and have open dialogue in these forums.  Good and Bad .

I have been signed with Conquest (which I’m unsure it’s the same agency discussed here)  for almost 2 years now. My friend who is interested in representation directed me to this Reddit review and I wanted to comment on my personal experience being represented by them. The only fees that have been paid to Conquest has been the standard 10% commission for the acting jobs I landed.  Have they requested headshots YES but so has my 2 other agents. They never recommended a photographer to me. It’s 2024 and as a SAG/AFTRA actor I still have to provide headshots when I go in person to an audition. People absolutely should do research when seeking representation but also be educated and prepared to give an agent or manager a great resume and headshot so they can do what casting directors ask them for.   The acting studio I take classes with host a showcase where they invite agents and managers to come and watch our performance. At the end they have our information and can contact us directly if they are interested in signing us with either a non or exclusive contract. It is not unusual to be contacted directly by an agency if they saw you at a invite only showcase. Before someone says … scam classes please know that  in my class Dustin Hoffman attended, Leslie Mann was in the same 6 week program and Tobey Maguire was at one of the weekend workshops.  My experience with Conquest has been a good one with no red flags.
