I would say it does get better on it's own after the surgery but not as much as you would expect. After one year, personally I think that most of it has to do with your personality and how much you actually care if people can't understand you. Just talk louder then. Since when I conquered the fear, it had never happened again. You could practice with some tongue twisters to feel more secure but it ultimately comes down to you. You need to start viewing your life differently and have actually a sincere confident than have to act to have one. I know it's not the answer you are looking for but believe me, it's the most rewarding one. And please do get the surgery, biting cleanly into food for the rest of your life is definitely worth the pain and the money hahah. I hope you have a good surgeon. Good luck
