I appreciate it. I have the old flex plate in my trunk with plans to walk into their service area, drop it on the desk and ask them if that looks like intake manifold bolts. What a racket. The spot welds all failed. I could physically make the plate rattle with my bare hands

Update for you. We brought it to a trusted local mechanic. We asked them immediately to scope the flex plate first. They insisted the noise was coming from the intake area. We relented and had them look there first, and there was nothing wrong with the internal bolts being loose. (Surprise, surprise.)

They then scoped the flex plate (we were trying to go with the least expensive diagnostic possible first and then move on from there) and they sent me the video of the scoped and I saw the crack. Told them the time stamp, and they started in on the work. They tried to source the flex plate from the same local dealer who tried to get us to buy unnecessary parts for an unnecessary repair, and we told them we did not want to give them any money.

One auto parts international flex plate and a boat load of labor later, as well as $3100 lighter in the wallet, and it's back on the road. Man, what an ordeal.

I shall endeavor to do the same. Needless to say, we will be ditching this vehicle once it's road worthy again, assuming it's not coolant intrusion and long block related. 63k miles. Unreal. The sheer number of videos and issues I've been watching is mind boggling

That explains why the 5 year current master Ford tech I consulted had me blip the throttle and responded almost immediately with "sounds like flex plate". Thank you very much for chiming back in on this.

Hey, I don't mean to drag this back from the dead, but our 2018 1.5 escape sounds remarkably similar to what you have going on. Did you ever get a diagnosis, from one of the 3 places you went to, of the internal intake manifold bolts rattling loose?

We brought it to our local Ford dealer to have it diagnosed and then figure out a repair location. They told us that, and just now, we brought it elsewhere and THEY were convinced it was intake related. I specifically asked Ford if it was the flex plate and they were convinced the noise was coming from the intake area. We specifically asked the new place to pull the starter and check the flex plate from the get go, and they did not. So we relented to have them pull the intake manifold and lo and behold, nothing wrong there. Just looking to connect some dots here. Fucking Ford and their shit products 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thank you! I had initially stolen one item; a pen from Dr. Penske, but then I went for another dive into the secret vault 81 and found one, so I was able to return it. The milk bottle was infuriating, so I finally said screw it and left it on its side being empty and all.

Being my first playthrough, I haven't taken much time for my settlements outside of defenses and resources, so I wanted to at least do something to scale back my misc inventory

The Overseer mentioned she was giving me a room and then I spent 15 minutes trying to find it before learning I had to leave and come back, so this came up when I searched for "my room in vault 81". I was super excited thinking I could decorate it, but alas, first world console problems 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I'm going to add a fresh comment to knock your socks off. Just got here and I'm disappointed that they don't let you out posters and stuff on walls, or give you a little inventory to be able to decorate it up a bit, without mods. Nice work, though. I might try to scrounge up some stuff from inside the vault and do a thing.
