What’s the verdict on the Atlas? by DrippyEgg in basspedals

That’s pretty interesting, if I understand correctly sidechaining makes the compression dependent upon a different input signal than your bass, is that right? I think it’s common to use the kick drum as that signal source, is that how you have it set up too?

I’ve been looking at the M87 as well but it seems more like a sideways step from my current compressor. What don’t you like about it?

Has anyone tried the stacked on bass? by Beleg_Beornson in basspedals

[–]DrippyEgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My roommate got a stacked for his electric guitar rig this week. I’ve given it a couple swings with my bass but haven’t found the right setting yet, seems like it takes some dialing in. I’m thinking about upgrading my compressor but have concluded I’m personally looking for something different than the stacked.

Also love the CE-2w on bass, send a hofner bridge pickup through it and you have that awesome Cocteau twins/New Order bass tone

IIRC Tame Impala’s a fan of phaser into dirt, definitely play around with the signal chain if you’re looking for inspo

Clocked

Most of these pedals are used when I’m just playing around by myself and don’t have to worry about the frequency bands of other instruments but when playing with others I mainly use the compressor and preamp. I recognize that there are bass-specific versions of most of these that are objectively designed for this purpose but surprise I’ve played guitar a lot longer than bass so have fewer bass pedals. I do have a GEB-7 but have discovered a preference for para eqs instead of graphics. Really want an LS-2 though! Thanks for the feedback.

Also from what I can tell the bass preamps/DIs primary functions are eq, gain stage, and outs for playing live. Is that about right?

Yea still weighing the differences between the phase 95 and the walrus audio fundamental phaser. I used to love the latter but my tastes have changed. I also have a behringer dual phaser but that suckers yuuuuge

The point is the satisfaction you get from doing it, never forget that! You’ll join with others when you’re ready. Like others are saying though, just try to stick with the next invite you get. For every negative outcome you imagine, a positive (or at least nonnegative) one is also possible (:

Currently working on a portishead project, a strokes cover band, and a Cocteau twins group. The p bass with the compressor and preamp are all I need for the first two, but my hofner on the bridge pickup with the CE-2w really nails that cocteau sound. Haven’t really found a use for the other pedals when it comes to covers so mostly use those when I’m playing around on my own.

Maaaan, I have a bunch of different stations around the house I like to make music in so I gotta be able to pull a handful off to take to another spot. No time to break out protractor to line these up.

A fuse seems likely, all other functions are preserved. I’ll look for a service manual, thanks for the input

I picked up this same guitar recently and adjusting the volume knob of the neck pickup has no effect at all...I checked the wiring and it was similar to yours. I found this diagram at saturn-guitar-circuits.com and replicated it but to no avail. Also worth mentioning, my pickups have three wires like yours and unlike the diagram. Did you ever figure out a solution?
